That area is prime in sun and warmer winter days - solid!

You may spot some up tight against that far side shoreline schooling - got into a pile with my Son one mid-day, sun and winter conditions on a warm trend. Every cast was a hook-up till they finally caught on.

Love fishing that zone - it has a nice mix.

This was the day, glass and perfect conditions to read water.

Well can’t find the trout. But when trout fishing did see reds tailing up on the bank. Couldn’t pass them up. I would catch one and blow the small schools out. Just move down shoreline and repeat. First tailing reds of the year. Could not get them to eat a top water.

On trout what color and pattern are you guys throwing right now in clear water ? I threw clear, pink, and light green. Nada. Reds would eat all three

Glen, I've been getting trout on slow sinkers, they really like the Trout Support Grass Walker. In the mullet looking color, they're kinda hard to find though. Also Soft Dines have done well for me lately.

I always had good luck on hot pink Skitter Walks or black Ghost with either white or chartreuse head. But that gin clear winter water can get tough shortly after daylight with no texture.

Threw a pink skitterwalk for about 45 minutes without a swirl. Gotta take the wife to Dr in Corpus tomorrow so I’ll stop by Roy’s and get some Soft Dines and whatever else catches me

I throw that Grass Walker weightless with a 5/0 Owner swim bait hook. They're deadly this time of year. If Roy's have them they're worth a try. The Soft Dines XL are what I was throwing.

                      ^^^^ This, called Birthday suit.
The new Chartreuse/Pearl color is a big hit also. The Grasswalker has become my go-to the last couple of years. There is a learning curve to using them. I actually stab a hole through them with my stringer point where the hook goes through the body to help with hookup ratio. Weightless, you can actually walk the dog like a topwater lure, Reds can't resist them, that tail has a neat action.

Got three Soft Dines and fished them once the sun came up and fog lifted. Caught reds and even managed about 5 trout and two over 24 inches. I had a couple guys I know jump on the boat since it was so foggy and they were about to kayak out. We caught fish all morning and then stopped and caught drum on shrimp for guy having a fry. I kept 2 trout for dinner

Got out this evening, wanted to hit a back lake but the sea fog was too close. I let the SW wind blow me down the edge of the ICW, fishing the drop off with slow sinking suspenders. My plugs, Corky Devils and Grass Walkers were the ticket, they wanted the side to side action. Got one here and there on Soft Dine XL's and a Fatboy. Last hour they were all over a topwater. Doesn't get much better. Boated 10 and let em swim away. From 16'' to 23''
