How does price of corn affect you.

We have 13 feeders. Very seldom do I hunt over one. Mostly for the kids in the family. Seems we have a good crop of acorns this year so I only got 2 feeders going and my brother got 4 going. I will hunt the acorns all season so corn prices won’t be to bad for me, till after deer season is over and I get ready for some hog hunts. Then it will have a impact.

Luckily, the cheapest corn is the closest to me. No effect, I just don`t think about it.
Fuel does affect me though. 32-mile round trip every time I go cost me about 10 bucks for diesel. I drive back home after every sit so it`s about 20 bucks if I hunt morning and evening, which I usually do at the beginning of the season till I tag out. I`m retired so I can go as much as I want for pigs and deer, but it can add up. My son comes by and picks me up on weekends since he has a company truck and free gas.

My son works at the local feed store (Strutty's in Bulverde/Spring Branch) The owner is good people and she works around my son's schedule during school for practice, games, and tournaments. We don't get a discount there and don't expect one, but will support good people. Doesn't matter the price and I don't shop around. Have got 2 bags at a time there and also 2 pallets at a time as well. Rather see my money go towards good folks and their businesses.

For those running the numbers on buying close to your lease or hauling, how much do you factor in for the fuel economy impact and cost on hauling distance vs buying it closer to your lease. When fuel was cheaper (say $1.59 a gallon) it was way less impact, but now at (say $3.09 a gallon) maybe what you are saving by buying it cheaper and hauling it a long distance might be a wash if you are hauling it very far ?????? Just curious from those running the numbers.
