Game wardens may need warrant now

This isn't hunting camp. Second home. Sometimes go multiple seasons without killing a deer. During mid summer when no hunting going on for months before or after. All the weekend warriors gone for months. Dove all migrated away for months. As someone said more eloquently than i could... "Take advantage of my courtesy to try his darndest to hang me on something." Some birds were multiple years old (bagged and dated). Won't affect the respect i have for GW/LE in general because I've only had positive experience otherwise. Just felt taken advantage of. That's was my only point.

Imagine inviting a GW friend over for bbq at your house to find him raiding your fridge when he excused himself to the bathroom.

There is no difference. GWs have no additional authority in a hunting camp assuming you are talking about inside of the camp/structure (temporary residence).

I always ask our local warden for his permission to hunt beforehand, then send him selfies with my license every hour so he knows I'm not doing anything illegal. Ideally he checks me at the gate every time but he gets busy every now and then and cant meet in person.

Looks like federal court has declared a warrant is necessary to search private property.

I have seen two different times when LEO got busted for poaching a trophy deer
1. Was a GW that shot a monster buck outside of sarita and entered into the muy grande contest and deer was very much recognizable from photos, claimed he was off duty and had permission ,
He died of cancer before it was investigated more
2. Was a border patrol section Chief , shot a trophy while on duty, with
Help from other BP , he entered cola Blanca contest and was seen on tv
He was convicted of poaching and the other BP’s of conspiring
He was transferred to las cruces NM , lower ranked where terminated from
These are Leo’ that have a license travel basically anywhere any time
And probably would have never been caught if their egos wouldn’t have been so huge

You guys that don’t want a game warden on your property must be a bunch of sorry law breakers. What are y’all hiding? We’ve had numerous wardens killed across this country for ridiculous reasons. They put their lives on the line every time they walk into a deer camp. Enough said.

And you must have complete disrespect for the constitution of th USA that requires a warrant. I don’t break any laws and the game warden has stopped by at my place and talked many times. But if I don’t want him there or I don’t want him coming doesn’t mean I’m breaking the law, just means I want my privacy that the constitution grants me.
If a warden sees me in the field hunting and wants to see my hunting license I would show him no issue. If I was in my bunk asleep and he woke me up to see my hunting license my first call would be to my attorney regardless if I had it or not. (I’ve had one very year since 1987). All The law has to go through the proper channels.

Offered our new GW a bottle of water when he came by to introduce himself. Before i knew it, he was counting last years frozen quail/dove in the freezer. Won't be invited back.

We have had similar experiences in past years.

Invited a game warden inside to visit and before we know it he's looking in all the cooler, and waking people up out of bed to check hunting licenses.

Will people ever wake up and realize GWs are not there to make friends? They're sole purpose is to find things to bust you with. It's their job.

Same with a lot of LEO. Never invite one in your house. What do you have to gain? Even if 90% LEO are good you still stand to gain nothing and risk the 10%

I have never thought coming on to private property just to check was legal. If they didn't see illegal activity from the road or get a report of illegal activity then it should not be allowed. Cops don't get to just drop in and check your home. It's no different.

Yep. The poacher gets to keep his job, ticket other people for breaking the very laws he broke and gets to be on TV. I've seen him a couple of times on Lone Star Law. Those producers should be ashamed of themselves for presenting a poacher as a law abiding Game Warden.

The State has plenty of actual game wardens. They really need to let that poacher go!

I have at least a dozen friends/buddies who are police. If/when any of them have me on the side of the road I realize our friendship is second to everything else. And they know that too.
