Not everyone at camp hunts, that would annoy the living pess out of me if he was waking me up for a license.

yeah? how would you help cast suspicion? Call the game warden and tell him you're not seeing enough deer at your feeders? Or maybe let him know you keep hearing gunshots next door on an active ranch out in the country? Unless they're posting stuff on facebook, all they have to do is process themselves and throw it in the freezer and eat it, and keep there mouths shut, and there's never going to be probable cause.

Unsure if you intended to come off as a jerk... Who said anything about bribing? Interesting how that's your first thought. Guilty conscience?

New to the area and was driving around introducing himself. "Nice top meet you. Pull up a seat. Can i get you a water?" Naive of me i guess.

Was out of season (mid summer) and we were sitting on the porch when he drove up the driveway. Have never had any reason to hide anything or not be cordial. In fact, I welcome their presence due to all the poaching activity in the area. I opened the "garage fridge" for bottle of water and he asked if i minded if he took a look. Sat there with a "no he didn't" look on my face as he counted freezer burned, dated packs of birds from previous season. He asked and I obliged. Again, no reason not to.

I allowed him. Nothing to hide and we were not cited for any wrongdoing. Because there was none. I've never used the word flabbergasted... Naive of me, i guess. Felt my courtesy was taken advantage of.

All that said, renovating a house on the property and thinking of renting to DPS in the area.

I ain’t gonna fall for that old free bottle of water trick this time Mr. Poacher! You probably should have offered him a beer?!

Nothing better than a good old TBH game warden thread…it’s amazing how quick some of us are so quick to surrender their rights just because the guy with the badge wears green and drives a cool pick up truck.

And I hate poachers more than anyone else and follow all the rules to the best of my knowledge. I just like my rights.

That whole waking people up to check licenses is serious BS, what if they're nonhunting guests? If I get woken up at night I'm likely not getting back to sleep for hours, it'll ruin an entire trip. They can check a **** license when people are awake or when they're actually hunting.

Lol i DID offer him a beer. Was mid summer and we were resting during heat of the day, having a few silver bullets. Will continue to respect LE in the area but wont go out of my way to be friendly. All it takes to blow a relationship with law-abiding landowner.

Lol you can keep trying but any Leo should have to have a search warrant to enter and run video surveillance on private property. Absolutely no one should just be able to walk on your property and do as they please.

If you suspect neighbors of poaching dozens of deer as you claim it isn't gonna be that hard to get some pc. How about putting out camers of your own? Maybe do a little leg work yourself before relying on others? Posting u0 watching your property lines ect. If they are coming over that often poaching trespassing ect it's gona be pretty easy to get some evidence specially with today's technology.

They're not your friend, they only play one on TV while trying to get you and as you found out will nit-pick every little thing trying to find something to hang on you. I've never received a citation of any kind, but I've sure had them try like hell to find something and seem frustrated when they couldn't. I've also had a ton of positive experiences, but because of the bad ones like you said it doesn't take much to foul up their image. They all get short to the point answers from me now and get them out of my was asap.

Always those that got to b!tch about gws, usually because of their bad experience with one or they got caught. BUT, when they need one because of a trespasser or they’re broke down on the lake or did something stupid that got them in bind, who do they call??? A game warden. Don’t judge all because of a few bad apples just think if all gws judging the public this way. Good luck protecting the natural resources of Texas when 95% of Texas is privately owned, which is where a gw couldn’t go. It seems the younger generations of people have the biggest problem with gws. I assume that’s due to this new millennial world they coming up in.

This thread argument is indicative of our society. Its no different logic than used for red flag laws.

Some like to pick, choose, and throw away constitutional rights.

Like someone said in another thread on the topic, “why do other criminals have more rights respected than hunters and landowners?”

Texas natural resources seem to be doing just fine despite most of it being privately owned. Haven't seen to many judging either just stating that they should have to have a search warrant to enter private property. Just like any other Leo.

Lol at the comment about the younger crowd. I would lay down some good money that there was much more poaching done by the older generation than there is these days.
