The Shootist is my second and my favorite John Wayne movie.

Something about the fact that John was himself dying of cancer always makes me tear up when I watch it because I used to watch it with my Grandfather who also passed from cancer.

A lot of folks don't realize this but John Wayne had a lung removed in the 60's due to cancer and still continued to film. Hard to believe that he was mortal.
