Great. Some of the best places to eat look like they are about ready to crumble. Ranch Hand Cafe in Cleveland is a prime example.

      I need to try Cattleman’s.
I agree with the Grist Mill.

My chicken fried venison is to die for!

I have not been able to try it yet, but Kendall’s in Noble, OK is on my list:

I know folks will disagree but Mary's is NOT good CFS... Unless your only measure is quantity, Then fine.
I agree NY Hill is way better.
I too think Cotton patch has a darn good CFS but My daughter got me to try their chicken fried chicken and now I never order the CFS anymore.
My favorite CFS for a long time was Cora's 471 North of Castroville, but haven't been down there in a number of years.

Very good. The breading tastes like homemade biscuits. Yum.

The wife and her friend had fried chicken at Rosemary's a few days ago. They liked it. You been there?

I'll have to think about "the best CFS", they are one of my favorite meals. There are lots of really good ones in Texas. In my travels all over the country, I've never found a really good Chicken Fried Steak outside of Texas.
i knew a family growing up that went somewhere in the southeast US, tennessee or kentucky or missisissipp, whatever, but my uncle told them to go to a specific restaurant that was really good while they were on their way out there, i think it was a burger place.

when they got back i remember my uncle asking the kid, he was about 8 or 9, how the burgers were at that place and the kid says "i dont know, we stopped there but they didnt have chicken fried steak so my daddy said we were going to the cracker barrel."
