Pricing isn't bad for a grocery store run. Not many in his photo gallery that I'd consider trophies.

Sonora is a little drive from Austin but if you want a low fence free range spot and stalk hunt on a 10K acre ranch holler at Dustin McRae http://www.texassafaris.net/about.html
He stays booked up though so he may already be full. You WILL see a ton of axis and plenty over 30".

Hey thanks everybody for the information, and especially those I spoke with. I don’t think an axis hint is in the cards for this year.

If you draw a non-res Montana tag and are up in the areas SW of Bozeman, be sure to give me a shout.

….. just bring bear spray and a .45 or larger backup gun.

I have some friends from Alabama that want to come in but I need to put eyes on the place before I let them come all this way on a gamble. It’s in Rock Springs. They have a primitive cabin and feed you 2 meals a day
seems like there's a lot of these types of deals around rocksprings that aren't legit. i am curious to hear about your experience here if you go check it out.

I told the guy I’d come fill feeders and cook for everyone one one weekend just to look around. So we will see. I am more or less on the same page with you. I have seen some pictures of really good animals they shot. We’ll see……

Bill have you done a hog hunt in Texas ?
They are just plain fun to hunt and the meat isn't bad either. Pretty sure you could find a spot for a day hog hunt way cheaper than an axis. They may allow exotics too in the right place.

Yes I have, but killing wild pigs is something I did when I lived in Cali.

Yeah that’s how I understand it as well unfortunately. But figured I’d post it up just based on the location

I had goals to try and do a hunt every year/other year with my pops knocking off bucket list stuff but it’s insane what’s happen.

Id expect 3250$-4500$ depending on what type of lodging you want.

Heck a 32” axis sold at a auction a few weeks ago for 5,200$!!! What the heck is that dude/lady going to do with that thing at that price?!?
What he said, Axis have gone up for a good one and went up fast. i'm also an outfitter for a few select ranches and prices have increased. We're all inclusive no trophy fee, but lodging and meals included. They have gone up.

I’m the original poster, those prices are too much for me to pay, especially when I add round trip costs and taxidermy.

                              Thanks again for the information.
