    Thanks again for the information.

If it were me, I’d stay home and eat a large T-Bone steak with all the trimmings and be happy as a lark. But that’s just me.

I think mine was $2,000, would have to ask my husband. Got lucky first afternoon so no overnight/meals. My first deer ever and mine was 34”. Pics of him https://julie-rogers.smugmug.com/Julie-s-Axis/n-rgcz6t

        Yeah, I see your point.

It’s warm here inside and -8F outside. It’s supposed to get really cold tomorrow -15.

          Yeah !
But that fireplace would look really good with a big Ol axis buck on it.

[QUOTE=Bill;16081941]I’m on the fence about coming down to Texas for Bownanza. Lots of miles from Montana or airfare to Austin where I’ve been graciously offered a ride to/from Bownanza.

What does an archery axis hunt cost within driving range from Austin or Bryan?

Well, what do you consider "driving range" Bill . For most of us, driving range is from Texarkana to El Paso and from Houston to Amarillo.

I am guessing from looking at these prices that this Axis for a little over $1500, a trade was involved, was well worth the money for a one day got it done early in the afternoon hunt was very cheap? Private low fence hunt!

Could be a great deal. You didn’t tell us about the trade so there’s no way to know. Nice Axis by the way.

I pay $1,500 a year for my deer lease and can kill up to 8 Axis per year on it. I know I’ve got a heck of a deal.

Ummmm, yep. That’s a heck of a deal! I was on one for 3X that and could only kill 3 axis.

Traded 2 Maverick blinds I paid $750 apiece for so to me it was a great deal. Drove down early that morning hunted mid day and the sat for 30 minutes that afternoon before he came in. Shot, recovered and gone before dark. Back in Lubbock from SE of Sonora by 11pm!

Awesome caudels on your buck! I would have made that deal with you for 2 Mavericks.

You didn’t waste any time on your hunt for that trophy.

No time wasted. The guy I hunted with told me if this buck comes , this is where he would come from and what he would do. That buck followed his instructions to a T. When we got up to him he was ecstatic about the caudles!

It’s waiting for an elk. I’ve been unsuccessful in 3 seasons living and hunting here in Montana. If I didn’t have bad luck - I’d have no luck at all.

……But I still continue to try.

Sounds like going somewhere here in Montana. We’ll do a Costco shopping, errands and guitar lesson day today in Bozeman. Close to 200 miles roundtrip. But it’s a beautiful place and I knew that was the price of living our dream in a rural area.

I was thinking to combine the hunt with a drive to Bownanza, which isn’t happening.
