When the platter of food was sat in front of me…..holy smokes what an enormous amount of food. It seemed like after that every restaurant I went to had huge portions.
Yup..it’s insane the amount of food the average restaurant puts on individual platters nowadays. It used not to be that way that’s for sure. It’s all about portion control IMO.
I can’t even remember when the last time my wife and I haven’t shared a meal in a restaurant. Sure, it limits your options sometimes but we compromise and make it work. That said, I think she wins now that I think about it? She gets to choose what she wants US to eat…and I get the check. 😜

Yep. It is also amazing how real food will make you feel full. When I eat properly I struggle to get in 2200 calories a day. I usually come up short because I feel full all the time.

Hormone injected meat is also a culprit in weight gain, I can eat two roasted chickens from Costco by myself here... when I went to Iran, I could barely eat one full chicken because it was hormone free and raised in our garden...
Also, our 3 week old chickens here are the size of a full chicken, a 3 week old chicken that has no hormones is still a small bird.

One spot that surprised me on calorie consumption was your brain. If you are actively working through a problem, it burns a ton more calories. They have measured chess players during a match, and found they burn in some cases up to 6,000 calories in a day!

Have you seen a chicken breast from HEB vs free range?! Tons more fat, and the HEB breast is very light in color compared to the free range. Same holds true for venison vs beef.

I know three people at work that have done it and they lost a ton of weight, the price is high but thats what it takes for some people to take a diet serious i guess.

Can you imagine the cost 20 years down the road?! Heart attacks, stroke, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol are all very costly when you start trying to fix them at 60.

And you can't put a price on 10 or 15 more years with kids, grandkids, and if you are so lucky, great grand kids.

If your intake is more than what you burn, you gain weight and you need to move your body to burn that extra calorie,,, unless your weight gain is hormonal, then you need to go see a doctor or a hormone specialist.

Guys, please try to eat a balance meal for example meat with veggies not just meat with bread and down it with a soda or beer... must balance the PH of your food (50/50 or close in Acidic and Alkaline intake) and burn the extra calories that you consume, either by exercise or hunting or.... otherwise your body will store that extra calorie in the form of fat.
This right here. For me to finally start losing my weight I had to get my mind right. I work for walmart so paying $5000 for a weight loss program ain't happening but that said I got my mind right in mid January when I started out at 425 and I am down to 341 right now. Still a long ways to go but not worried about it as I have overcome the hardest part and any plateau's along the way don't bother me now. For me I found out when I hit plateau's my body is changing shape even though I am not losing weight at that time. So positive changes are still happening even if I can't see them on the scale. My diet consists of lean meats and veggies (I do need to add more veggies to my diet). Turkey, chicken, and fish have become my staple meats and I also cut back on my portion sizes. I grew up in the country as a kid and was always taught I have to clean my plate. Now I know that's just plain bad. When I do go out to eat I usually only half my meal and take the rest home for another meal later. Crazy thing is now I am stuffed eating just half that meal. Along with the meal changes I have been hitting the gym regularly now and that's helping a lot too. I can feel my metabolism, strength, and stamina all improving and getting better all the time. If you are like me your biggest enemy is going to be your mind.

My wife did SOTA for about 6 months. She did not have a lot of weight to lose but carried an extra 20-30 pounds after our second child for around 5 years. She has always been the healthiest eater I know, and works out religiously. Here is what you can expect:

                    A meeting to determine goals.

A timeline to meet those goals.

An eating program that is regimented on times and amounts. Not so much counting calories. They supply snacks, replacement meals, protein drinks and shakes, and recipes for meals.

A daily log to record all meals.

                    Its some what Keto/Low carb.

                    Weigh in accountability every week.

24hr support system. If you find yourself at a restaurant and not sure what to get, call or text and they will tell you what to order.

Once goal weight is hit they give you a free maintenance program for life with monthly weigh in. I am sure they are optional but my wife goes for the support and to hold herself accountable.

It's expensive, but as many have stated, your health is worth it. And momma is much happier. For her 4 month programs it was around $3K. She did not quite meet her "goal weight" and they did recommend extending the program a month for more $$$. My wife declined and stated that she would continue on her own but would like to keep weighing in. They agreed and were very supportive. She got on maintenance the next month. I would be happy to answer any questions anyone has.

Congrats on your success so far. Keep it up and dont let anything come in the way of you and your goals. It truly is a lifestyle change. I did it just short of 10 years ago. I wasnt severely overweight but was definitely chubby and out of shape. My weight yo-yo'd as I dieted here and there. I finally got serious and have remained at a very healthy level for nearly 10 years. Good luck the rest of the way.

Good info. Is exercise part of their program or just diet?

Diet is important. Exercise is importanTER

If you're looking for a way to lose weight without moving your body you're not serious and you'll never lose weight the healthy and correct ways.

Oh I get that....just curious what the SOTA program has in it. Or is it just "exercise 30 minutes a day" or something?

For my wife and her program light exercise was all she was allowed. No weight lifting or anything that would cause soreness.
