I wonder why he is still in Waco?

Because he did in Waco what Shineintex thinks Beard can do in Lubbock. He took a broken program and made it great...but Scott Drew was a hated man around CBB for a long time. He got a bad rep as a dirty recruiter, by his peers. I think he’s outlived that reputation, but he still hasn’t been offered many jobs that I remember. Beard won’t have that same stigma.

I’m hoping and praying that Beard sticks around long enough to do it. Am I being overly optimistic about what Beard can do?
No way Tech can match money against Texas or basically anyone else like some of the bigger well know BBall schools. If they could don't you think they could hire a great football coach? Asking for a friend! LOL!
Who do you think pays some of these massive buyouts for college coaches that get fired. It ain't all the athletic dept or school that does this, a lot is from alumni!

Here are the top 10 highest-paid coaches in college basketball this season, including athletically related income from sources outside the school:
John Calipari, Kentucky: $8,158,000
Mike Krzyzewski, Duke: $7,256,924
Mick Cronin, UCLA: $5,500,000, including a $2 million signing bonus
you can theres some "experienced" posted on this thread when you see IU still referred to as elite. their own fans don't even consider them elite any more. i went to kentucky and I'll just say, I'd trade Cal for Beard right now!

Texas BMDs provided 25 million to buy out Herman and his assistants. You don't think they could provide the same to lure Beard to Texas plus the university match Calipari's salary? Tech could match that? Texas won't do it though. It's only basketball.
Go back and re-read what I wrote. You’re either intentionally trying to put words in my mouth...or your reading comprehension is severely lacking.
I read what you said.. and my comment/angle still stands. My comprehension is fine. Billy certainly understood where I was going with it so .... maybe you need to reread mine.

I'm not saying that. Maybe he can. He's a great coach. I'm saying that he's so good that Texas Tech ain't gonna be enough for him. Just like UH Football wasn't enough for Art Briles, Kevin Sumlin or Tom Herman.

I don't think anyone ever said that Chris Beard wasn't overpaid. But hey, that's great company and I have no doubt that someday he'll deserve to be on that list....someday.
