    Will Shaka survive???

ACU shooting 30% once again except this time they’re getting destroyed in comparison to how Texas played. Lol

Middle of nowhere? You must've never been to Ames Iowa, Stillwater or Norman Oklahoma....Lubbock bigger than all 3 combined. Way more college towns than not are small towns in some random city, so never really understood this argument.
Tech hasn't had a single top ranked recruiting class much less several.

Today's political climate makes Lubbock a little more attractive when compared to the Austin area than it used to be but it's still a dump when compared to the west side of Austin. Lake Travis in the hills vs. a flat cotton field full of wind turbines. Lol.

I lived in Lubbock for 45 years from 75 until last year so i know a little bit about the football/basketball/athletic department according to the local folks.

What i am saying is I know what Beard is being paid and he probably desrves it, BUT if they get into a bidding war no way do they stay in it with any of the other that might want him. Yes he has ties to Lubbock and not near the pressure he would have at some other bigger BBall schools, but does he want to stay there or does he want to go to a place that could possibly give him a Sweet 16 or Final 4 team almost every year or just stay at Tech? No one knows, but if you think Tech could hang in a bidding war for him, you are delusional. Pic your mic up! From what I have seen and a lot agree with this in Lubbock, the AD is not the brightest card in the deck with some of his hires. This is not from me, but from the general public and meadia in Lubbock.

They have a heck of a baseball coach, men's basketball coach and a decent men's track coach, but not much else. Some of his hires have had to resign due to problems, not records.

That and they don't have million dollar homes on a hill overlooking clear water lakes.

No but a $1M home is about 25% larger here. For that matter he could have a $1M home on Alan Henry and have a similar commute without Austin traffic

I think you might be surprised what donors might cough up to keep Beard. They know they are lucky to have him. They aren’t paying the head football coach much and I could see them staying numb to crappy football in order to keep Beard and Tadlock

Ironic you call Kittley a “decent” track coach. He has National Titles and Tech is a “blue blood” in the Collegiate Track world

My mistake, I knew he had some good teams, but did not know of their accomplishments. A great track coach, I apologize. I looked and dang he had some stud athletes that performed and some that were not studs that performed well above their potential. Kudus to a great track coach that can get that from his athletes!

Kittley coached under Don Hood at ACU in the 80s when I was a student at ACU (Wes coached the women's team, Coach Hood the men). Don Hood was the most successful track coach in NCAA history, coaching Olympic athletes and world record holders from the US and several other countries. ACU's track program, mostly under those two coaches, won most of ACU's 65 national championships through the years. Back then when ACU was NAIA and then NCAA DII, Coach Hood took his team to tons of D1 meets - and won just about all of them. It finally got to the point that the D1 schools wouldn't let them come any more. Coach Hood was one heck of a track coach. He and his family are good friends of ours. He's in a nursing home with dementia now. It stinks. He's a really good man.

One of Coach Hood's sprinters back in the 80s was Albert Lawrence, an Olympic sprinter from Jamaica. At the time, he had broken a couple of Carl Lewis's records. Indoor 200 and another one or two, if I remember correctly. One year, we had Albert on our intramural football team. He was FAST. You could not cover him - at all. But he couldn't catch a football to save his life. He scored maybe 2 or 3 times in our whole season, and those were the only times he ever caught the ball.

I just found a video of Albert running.... He was noticeably faster than anyone else in ACU intramural football.

The politics of today: fire a white football coach after winning 4 straight bowl games, yet keep a black basketball coach after not winning one single tournament game in 6 f'ing years. Total absurdity. Decisions in life should never be based upon race but upon results. Period. The USA has forgotten this little nugget.

Smart should have been fired 2 years ago and the kissing coach should have been fired last year. That 2018 season bought him another year. He should have been fired last year but he had “the quarterback” coming back. As much as I love Sam this last year was a waste for him.

Not even a top 5 class much less the top class.

Lol do you even watch college basketball or you just here to troll? Top 10 recruiting classes are considered very good especially when the historic Monster Powerhouses like Duke, UNC, Kentucky and Kansas claim some of those spots as well. Think I’m finished here lol. This comment really made it clear that this conversation is a waste of time.

You said TOP class. Top is #1.

Plus 247 is the top recruiting class ranking service. They're not even in the top 50 for 2021. Baylor is 7 with a 5 star and Texas is 11.

Tech was 12, 16 and 33 the three years prior. No top 10 clases.
