You have to be very structured and disciplined. I use To Do App to line out my tasks the day before. But I’m not sure I could do it if my job didn’t require me to call on customers. I’d go nuckin futs if I had to stare at excel or worse lines of code with no interaction.

The thing I dislike is a) my wife thinks because I’m home I should also move a load of laundry or unload the dishwasher. Had to put a hard stop to that quick.

I also find I work more because it is convenient. I started at 7:30 this morning and worked solid until noon. 45 min lunch, but read through some
Morning emails. Then 1-5:30. I will Work on a pair of new proposals this evening after the kids go to bed.

Same here. I usually started work earlier but at my leisure I could get up and go outside, jump in the pool if I wanted, load a few rounds of ammo if I wanted, check the feeder and camera if I wanted.....you get the idea.

I guess if I still lived it the city it might suck more.

Today was my first day back in the office since mid March. I’ve been highly productive at home and today I felt like I barely got anything done and wasted two hours commuting back and forth.

There is no way I could do it, way too many distractions.

I've been doing it for a couple years and don't think I would want to go back to an office. MUCH more productive at home, than in an office.

I enjoy it most of the time. The freedom is great but I have been doing it for almost 6 years part of the week. Going in once and awhile is good to catch up and have some team building.

This is what I'm wanting. I like some aspects of it but I'm getting cabin fever.

Good thread. Some good stuff in here.
My wife and I both juggle high stress careers. Working a home isn't a problem, BUT were also trying to raise and attend to two young boys, 2 and five.
This is an amazing time. I'm getting to spend a lot more time with my boys than I otherwise wouldn't get to do. Same for my wife. Once the kids go back to school, things will normalize, but I won't go back to the office full time; maybe two days a week.

I never stopped going to the office, just easier to go and get work done and be done by noon or 1 and then the balance of the day is wide open.

It has worked out well for me. I can work whenever I want, within reason.

I would love to work from home. Most of the time I am only one of very few in the office.Thankful I have a job but I feel like everyone is on extended spring break.

I am more efficient at home. I start work earlier and work later. I don’t feel like I’m “working” most of the time either.

I worked from home for three years before we built our new location. It took some getting used to but I found my groove eventually. The wife has realized how much I was able to do working that way and the adjustment has caused some tension to say the least.

My wife works out side the home. She thinks its ok to give me a list of honey dos for me to do while I'm just sitting around the house. That, has caused some tension to say the least.

I hope I get a opportunity to work from home one day.

This is what happened at first. We had to come to terms eventually that just because I'm home doesn't mean I'm a stay at home dad and handyman. I did tend to get cabin fever though so I would go out and run some errands or do stuff around the house that was needed. Now that I'm back at an office, on a regular schedule, none of that is getting done.

There is an adjustment period for sure.
