Didn’t care for “1984” and absolutely HATED any and all without David Lee Roth on vocals. They lost it for me when they added keyboards!

Keyboards was a choice that eddy Van Halen made for the band
That D L R objected to and drove him out of the band

Loved me some 1984, but you're correct... Hagar destroyed Van Halen... couldn't listen to it.

I’m opposite. I liked their music better when Sammy joined. I saw Van Hagar twice. They were awesome! Two of the best concerts I’ve been to.

Eddie was sneaking into the studio late at night to avoid Roth and Ted Templeman and put stuff down. Eddie said it was a dark period were he was clashing on the musical direction. IMO, its their best work. Recording the next album (diver down)caused Eddie to build 5150, his own studio.

The solo on Push Comes to Shove is amazing. I guess you can say that about most of Eddie's solos.

EVH was a beast on this album and influenced a ton of players with his leads and solos but his rhythm guitar on Fair Warning is freaking awesome.

Not to hijack this thread but...Bruce Springsteen wrote and sang that song before Manfred Mann covered it. if you want a real treat, go find it on YouTube and give it a listen. I bet you can’t get through the whole song it is so bad.
