too much crawfish with no demand, most people can't cook them on their own, live price is @1.50, sometimes you see less, my guys are peeling a lot to stock up on tailmeat for the year.

Yup, just go to the meat counter. They keep sacks stacked up behind em on weekends. They may have some during the week to? Never bought during the week.

Anyone know where I can get live ones around Katy?

There's a place on Mason, south of I10 that has them $50 a sack for field run. $2.75/lb for Lg/Xlg mix.

I've gotten boiled ones from there. They actually had boiled crawfish for $2.99/lb yesterday if you bought 3 pounds or more. Their boiled ones usually have a lot of smalls.

Place is called Buster's it's on the left if you are driving south on Mason. Right next to the DQ.

I know of 2 farmers who quit selling crawfish and started draining their ponds. I was told the supply is there, but the demand (restaurants) is down 60% from last year this same time. Sucks when you're catching 250 sacks per day and can't move them.

Disappointed we are not seeing prices for peeled tails where we could stock up the freezer still $14-18 lb here in Htown. What are prices there ? I would put 25 lbs of so in the freezer at around the $10 price point.

I did a boil 2 wks ago. Paid $3.50 for quality (med large) @ $3.50 lb here in DFW area. Here is what prices were according to AgNews about that time.

They have been $9.99 for Louisiana tails for over a month here in Avoyelles Parish at Piggly Wiggly and some weeks they run them at $8.99.
