Yes, back in the late 70's, early 80's there were muleys in the Iraan-McCamey area when I hunted out there.

Well guess what? Nothing has changed.

I hunt 10 miles east of Iraan just inside the Crockett county line and we have roughly a 50\50 split of mule deer and WT.

Concho county. We had a young mule deer, show up at our wheat field. South of Paint Rock, north of Eden.

We had some just north of Ozona. They usually disappeared during the 2 week rifle season, but I managed to Knock one down the year before last.

I saw a mule deer buck running a doe just north of San Angelo off 2105 a few years ago.

We hunted 28K acres 15 miles down 1024 for decades. Never ran across a mule deer there, but the country looks like it was made for it.

I do know and have seen mule deer/whitetail crosses along the Pecos River. The Pecos used to be know as the N/S boundary for the traditional mule deer range. I think that boundary has been pushed west now though.

I shot one east of FM1024 just north of Pandale. Only one I have ever seen. Year before another was killed on the same ranch.

I would have to see that to believe it.

I would venture its a whitetail

On a somewhat related note, I’ve seen pronghorn in concho county.

We had a spike Muley on camera 2 years ago about 30 miles south of Sonora. Just 1 pic, he was passing through.

Lots of mule deer around Iraan. Mostly whitetail by the time you get to Ozona.
