My daughter had this done a few years back when she was in high school. Scared me to death, but it was one of the easiest surgeries they perform and worked wonderfully. There are always risks associated with any surgery, but they are minimal. My daughter had her surgery in Dallas and it was a female doctor (I can't recall her name right now, but I think it started with a "Z"). It was said that the doctor was one of the best in the world at this surgery and I believe it. Technology has really advanced leaps and bounds over the past several years.

Prayers for your wife. Anything with the heart is scary. My son had an ablation for WPW (electrical issue where he had too many electrical conductors in his heart and they have to zap them). His was an extreme case and they had to burn and freeze way more connections than they thought they would have to. Even with all of that it was outpatient. He went home the same day. His only side effects were being extremely tired and some slight soreness around his incisions. Within 3 days he was playing basketball at 100%.

The technology is amazing and they have a full team of heart related docs in there when they do it.
