My parents and I both had them for years. They were great until our agent retired, and we were assigned a new one. That office was a pain to deal with. So I say if the agent is good, you will be happy.

We have had them for over 15 years and have been nothing but pleased every time we have had to use them. Boats cars and house are all through them.

I tried. But my house was too dangerous!lol Really! I have rock retaining walls (no "rail" on top of em to keep someone from falling off of it) in back that are about 3.5ft tall..(cuz I live on the side of a hill) and the steps in front...horrible-because there's like 10 or 12 of em-only 3-4" tall steps but too many of em without a handrail. Oh, and a trampoline...totally enclosed but still a no-no. Wouldn't insure me. Didn't know I lived in a death trap.
I asked-"and y'all gladly insure farmers and farms"?

              Dang, Sorry to hear this.

My wife works for the main office in Brenham. I think they got out of certain areas to remain more rural. Let me get the details from her.

That's where we got wrote out of. This was about 12-13 years ago. But the claim, adjusters and the entire ordeal was a HUGE PIA. We had to argue every little thing with them. When we got dropped we where told it wasn't due to our claim it was due to the claims in the area

So I did ask her. They are only allowed to write so much business in certain areas because they are Farm Mutual Insurance. (hope I am saying that right). So if the agent in your area was at his max and wasn't allowed to write anymore or told he needed to reduce his numbers maybe it got caught up in that.

I know its the big players like AIG that issue the re-insurance and control what companies can cover what areas. Germania is only allowed very little coverage near Houston. Wish I knew more and hope that makes any sense.. lol

I was looking around a few months ago and Germania came close to what we already had but not worth changing. We are very rural and not close enough to a fire department with the right credentials so this effects our rates is what I am being told.

Had them for about 8 years and no problems. They had the cheapest rates by far. I will probably check again this year just to keep them honest.... I aint married to none of them.

Ok, anyone want to give me a name of an agent? I'm in Sherman if it matters.

I've been "encouraging" my stepson to get his own auto insurance for months, and he's slow playing it. I need to get this taken care of if I have to do it myself.

We've been with them since the mid 90's when we moved to the Richmond area. They cover home and auto both. We've been very happy with their service so far. We've had a major home claim and a few auto claims and their handling of those claims have been top notch.

Largest auto claim was my daughter being caught up in a rear-end chain collision. Drunk driver hit the car behind her and ended up wrecking 5 cars not counting his own. He of course only had the state required minimum so I had to file on Germania. They totaled her car and while I didn't agree with the initial assigned value they did work with me to come up with a much more favorable value.

Only negative I can recall was several years ago we had to exclude my son from the auto policy due to have a couple of "at fault" wrecks. He had just graduated college so it was time anyway for him to get his own coverage. After a 12 month clear record he's been added back as "ok", not sure the official term. In other words he can borrow one of our cars now and he is fully covered.
