    Congrats on getting your ring.

I have always been amazed about how something as simple as a ring leads to instant friendship and conversation. It is a cool tradition.

Congras on your ring! I went with natural. Get it a little big.....mine is at Balfour getting stretched, just like my waistline has! Gig'em!

        Congratulations!

I've got the natural gold and like it a lot. I had the same question you did and almost went with antique, but am very glad I went with the natural. It will gain character over the years, but will always shine.

I prefer antiqued but you really can't go wrong either way. Congrats!

Natural in 14K. I don't type very well with it on, so it is sitting on my desk staring at me as I type...

Congratulations!!! I went with the antique.....I just felt it was more traditional. I was told back in the very early days that none of the rings were antique but the cadets used shoe polish to darken the recessed portions of their rings.(I guess that would make it less traditional??)

Rose finish became available in the 70's and natural in 1998.

antique...had my great grandmothers diamond put in to it after I got it. It's extremely special to me and I can't wait to pass it on to my son some day.

I paid around $600 for mine last April, and I got the girls 10k with a diamond.

Mine started off antiqued. Then, after a few years like that, I accidentally removed the antiquing with lacquer thinner. I wore it that way for a while and then took it to a jeweler and had it re-antiqued and a diamond put in. Eventually, I accidentally removed most of the antiquing again. At that point, I intentionally took lacquer thinner to it and removed the rest of the antiquing and have been wearing it plain ever since. All this to say the antiquing vs plain finish is easily changed either way. Having had both, I think I prefer it plain.

If you want your Aggie ring to still look almost like new 25 years later, except for the bumps being worn off the back, get 10K gold. (That's what I did.) But if you want the words and emblems on the top to get worn off and become less and less distinquishable over time, then get the higher gold content.

Here's my Aggie ring after 25 years...

If you want a diamond, I would recommend getting that put in after market by a reputable jeweler. You want to be able to ensure you're getting a top quality stone. Incidentally, the 10K gold will also give you no problems on the diamond setting. I've heard some people have to eventually have their diamond reset on rings with greater gold content because it's softer.

A tip for you. If you use a Sonicare toothbrush, save one of the old heads and use it as a jewelry cleaner. If vibrates all the crud out of the tiny crevices and will make your Aggie ring dazzle!

                          Congrats!

The darker one looks richer. Personally I have lost two, one of them stolen by an employee. Just remember to rub the teasip ***holes off the bottom.

                              aggie ring

in 87 i paid $425 for mine with a diamond and the natural finish. since then the diamond cracked out and i have to have it resized. will cost more than the original ring to replace the diamond and to size. we also could still dunk ours in a pitcher a the chicken.
