Congrats....I got mine last April and its such a good feeling. I went with the natural finish because to me it is more noticeable. Mine is a little darker than when I got it but thats just because I wear it every where and it needs to be cleaned.

I have Natural...worn it for three years through everything...roughneck, fishing, hunting, etc It'll become naturally "antique" over time.

I was told back in the very early days that none of the rings were antique but the cadets used shoe polish to darken the recessed portions of their rings.(I guess that would make it less traditional??)

Rose finish became available in the 70's and natural in 1998.

"Heal-and-sole" was what the RVs used when we antiqued our brass for the Whites and class B's. Coat it in Heal-and-sole, let it dry, then polish w/ brasso. I dont know if I would reccomend that for your ring, but it works on uniform brass.

Congrats on your ring! I personally liked the antiqued ring because I looked like a drug dealer with a Super Bowl Ring when I tried on the Natural finish. Plus I could see every detail better and it looked like all my Corps brass. I think I payed $570ish for a 10K, and I got mine November '03.

They used to have a White Gold Finish too, I've only seen one and wasnt too impressed with it.

Whichever one you put one your finger and it makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up, thats the one you should get!

I think mine was the dark one and it has a diamond, but I can't stand wearing rings or watches....jewelry of any kind drives me nuts. My wife has it put up somewhere. When I first got it I wore it for awhile, but have not seen it since about '89 or '90.

                              Good luck and congrats
