It's been pretty exciting to watch so many birds in seperate groups and their unique interactions.
Here's a scene from this afternoon. Note the hens with gobblers in tow. This evening had a larger group of hens working the edges of the field, working their feed under the oaks on the edges of a fairly large field. Three seperate groups of gobblers held positions along the edges with 4 gobblers in direct pursuit (tailing) of the hens. Right now the gobblers are not fighting....the mate is still pretty early on and my feeling is the hens are not quite there yet. Just a few days and I think things are going to change quickly. This is week one in my neck of the woods......I spend a little bit of my week....heck a lot of hours every week watching and photographing game. I've learned a ton!
This year should be special for those that pursue the wild turkey in Texas.
Good night!
Rob
Great recap and pictures. I sure hope to get a nice bird this year.
Good morning TBH. It's going to be another great day.
