Howdy, Duane.
Back about 10 years ago I was at my 2nd Bownanza. We were unloadin trucks the way we used to do at bownanza at -7 am...loadin dock style. Some big Ol boy backed a blue f-250 down into the chute and we all un-loaded it. I was standing around in the vicinity of the drivers door when Trey Powers walked up to me (Trey if you're here stand up), nodded at the aforementioned blue steed, and asked if I'd give him a ride up the road a mile or two to raid his uncles ice machine ( I believe it was at a plumbin contractors shop). I said sure, and Trey headed around the other side of the truck to take on the shotguners spot in the cab. In the meantime I asked the big Ol boy that drove that ford in if we could borrow his truck, and he responded by throwing me the llaves and away we went.
A mile or so up the road Trey said something about being mostly a Chevy guy but this sure was a solid Ol pickup. I said "ya she drives pretty good, but I'm a Chevy guy too". Trey looked pretty perplexed when he said "this isn't your truck"? I said "no sir, belongs to that big Ol boy who was standing beside it when we left".
I explained that I and that guy assumed you needed to go get some ice right now, so here we are. We got a pretty good laugh out of the deal, and when we got back to the park I met Duane officially for the first time when I have him back his keys....as if we'd knowed each other for years.
Haven't seen Duane around in a while, and Gary's post reminded me of that story.
Duane, I just poured a little out for 'Ol Blue.
