I tried hudsons a few weeks ago. Wont use them again. Nothing bad yet.. just didnt get what I thought I would back.
I'm gonna try Hunters Creek in Liberty Hill or Stonewall. I have heard great things about Stonewall.

I cut meat occasionally at Stonewall Smokehouse. Owners are good friends of mine. I can guarantee you that what you bring in is what you get back. Tell Rodney that Greg sent you over.

Tried to take my Axis does there but they weren't taking any in since WT wasnt open. They will get my next WT doe for their dried sausage.

I've had 2 axis and one whitetail euro mounts by them. the whitetail had a tine broke off (they repaired that) and this last axis, they bleached up into the antler base...pretty sloppy work.
I don't know how their meat processing is, but I would not use their taxi services again.

Hunters creek is trash. You do not get your deer back. I brought a doe I shot with a bow, first package of ground I cooked I found a bunch of bullet fragments.
I grew up processing our deer on the kitchen table. A deer takes 4-5 hours for me. It's a small time penalty to ensure you get your own meat back!
So did I. When I need steak, hamburger, or jerky, I do my own. The only thing I haven't done myself is make my own sausage. Having two little girls under 3 makes time more precious these days. If making breakfast, summer, and link sausage only took one day, I would do it, but I don't mind paying people some money who do it for a living.
I ended up taking a deer to Granzin's in New Braunfels this morning. They seemed to have really good reviews for the most part. I had a long discussion with the gentleman there and he guaranteed me that they don't do large batch processing and that I would for sure get my own actual meat back. The fact that they have 20lb minimums for everything ground seems to agree with that. It seemed like a very clean place and at least the drop off went well. I will report back here what the final product is like. I am getting summer sausage, smoked link sausage, and some of their bucksticks made from this deer.
