Looks like ringnecks in the pictures, but there could be a bluebill or two mixed in. Like everyone esle said, they are fun to shoot, but grill them over mesquite and throw them away and eat the mesquite when done...

GR5 those are ringnecks/ blackjacks.....or ringbills if you live up north.

The white ring on the bill is a "dead ringer" no pun intended....

If you didn't like those mallards you certainly won't like these...not to mention cleaning them is not fun.

The enlarged photo is of Ringneck Duck. It appears in the original photo that you may also have some Scaup, but hard for me to tell.

Don't shoot unless you have a duck stamp and know the limits. You're dealing with federal offenses if you break duck hunting regulations.

These ducks will decoy easily and are fun to watch. They travel low to the water in dense packs and will cup and land without hesitation as long as you are hidden. They are diver ducks that eat small snails, shell fish like mussels and crawfish as well as smaller items.

I've never heard of anyone that liked Ringneck meat. YOu can breast them out just like any bird, but again it is dark dark meat and I've never heard of anyone that liked it. The make good natural decoys though.

Ringneck. Pain the butt to breast out. We have been known to kill a few. Had a contest few years ago of an all ring neck hunt.

Can't have more than 2 Scaup in your bag.
Not to fond of eating them either.

                  Duck haters!

Bunch of haters... JK but I like eating ducks. Jalapeno, bacon and duck breast is pretty hard to beat. Chicken fried duck is hard to beat as well. If duck tastes like liver you had it way overcooked. You have to eat it medium to medium rare to avoid it tasting bad. Ribeyes taste just as bad if overcooked or poorly prepared. Jason Slocum

Scaup, you need to look at how far down the wings the white goes to tell if greater or lesser scaup. Aka bluebill.

Ever make chicken fried goose? I have a couple of Snow goose breasts (small) and 2 Canadian goose breasts (large) in the freezer I need to cook.

They are ringnecks hands down! The way I always tell is that the white on their sides goes up a lot further toward the breast than that on a bluebill. All of this is beside the point, they pretty much the same duck.

We have a 2 80-100 acre lakes full of Ringnecks. Literally thousands of birds! Will have a group of about 10 guys unleashing on them this weekend.
