I quit smoking in '95, and there are still times when lighting one up seems like a good idea.

Not sure you are ever really in the clear, but it does get a lot easier.

Quit for 13 yrs and then my Dad nearly died and it was something to go outside the hospital and do.I have been dipping for 3 yrs since then but swore to myself that the day he passes I will put it down. ( I hope he lives forever!!) For me not the Copenhagen

keep it up!!!! i quit once for 9 months and then one morning in the duck blind.....well one cant hurt, right?
now i am back on the worm dirt worse than ever. wife is on me all the time about it, but i dont her i would rather chew off my right hand than quit.
i guess after reading this and seeing i am not the only quitter around, i may try again.
i hate being a slave to a spit bottle.
anyhow, congrats and be stronger than me!!!

I really thought if I could make it this far I would quit havent that feeling of needing it, its not as bad obviously as the first few days, but it is still there. Also I keep struggling with the thought that maybe one day I can have another one. Like ill be able to just do it once. I know in my head that I can continue to beat it, but it sure will be nice when I get to a point where I stop thinking about it all together. The coolest parts are actually adding days to the count, and secondly its nice to not have to stop by the store, or make a special trip all the time just to get a can.
Don't buy into the lie - you'll eventually end back up where you started if not worse. Try to think I am never going to dip again and "that's OK"

Congrats on your accomplishment - that's awesome!

Isnt it strange that we ever even started smoking/dipping? We knew it wasnt good for us, but since all our friends are doing it, why not right?

And then we find out that the tobacco companies knew it was poison and addictive and hid those facts.

            Terrible isnt it.

              Congrats and keep at it.

I quit cold turkey 5 years ago after 17 years and still have the occasional craving, usually after a couple of beers out at the deer lease.

I can't stand the ads that blame the tobacco companies. There's no one out there that doesn't KNOW that it's bad for you and causes often catastrophic health problems. Yet, kids still stick the stuff in their lips and light up cigarettes. Dang, all my years of preaching to my nieces and nephews and half of them smoke or dip, even with the warnings on the packages. I just don't understand how anyone could start.

We will never be in the "clear". Once addicted to it, always addicted to it. We only need to focus on today.

I wanted to chew on my gun a time or two also when I first quit.

                                Quit counting days.
It is keeping it in your mind.
I quit over 14 years ago.
