Correct. Austin/San Marcos/New Braunfels/SA and the Hill Country. Easily the best "area" in the state if not the country.

San Marcos BBQ in the original SW Market building on Hunter Rd. is just as good. Actually a bit better IMHO.

I would also suggest Luling City Market over Lockhart although I like Smitty's and Kruez.

                Leslie Cochran.

One evening I was in some sort of recording studio listening to a friend's band make their first CD and he walks in all animated on some political topic wearing a man thong and a pink tank top. As he's waxing poetic to me, he continuously grabs my beer, takes a sip, hands it back, and then continues his rant. Did that until it was gone and then disappeared like a fart in the wind.

Guy was a master at free beer.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. We are most likely going to stay at the in laws place in Lagrange and drive to Austin for the day. Is there any kind of tour you can take through capital building?

They do tours at the Capitol. That is a great idea. Remember that if you have a CHL you can show it and skip the metal detector line.

Luling City Market is my favorite. Smitty's is a close second. When I have to go to Austin for work, I stop at one on the way up there and the other on the way home.

Unlike what many say, I am in my mid 40's and love to hit 6th street early in the evening when the bars have live music. No cover, cheap drinks early, not crowded, good live music. Around 11, time to go home or find a old persons bar, lol! During the week, you can never go wrong with a trip the Capital.
