Not sure because I drive through there going 80-90 and only tap the brakes when I have to but whatever y'all do don't wear the colors of the rainbow unless y'all want to make a lot of new friends....

Funny your coming to Austin asking for things to do in Austin and everyone giving you places to go outside of town...lol
Why not something like the lost pines resort between Austin and Bastrop? Think they have one is San Antonio too or the riverwalk?
I just dont see Austin as a place for a staycation JMO I guess I have lived in the area too long.
We went here and stayed in the log cabin cool place to get away.

He may be dead now, but there used to be a dude on 6th street with some big old implants who used to run around in a thong. I have heard he will show them to you if your into that.
Had some people talk me into eating at the oasis on lake travis last year. Wont be going back. Awesome view but the food and drinks where sub par.
I would follow earlier suggestions and head a little further south to Gruene. I Always have fun there. Spend a few hours at Luckenbach under the shade trees sipping a lone star. Take the wife shopping at Fredericksburg. Catch some live music somehwere. There are always lots of options for music.
