Im ok with most game laws. I've never hunted in a county with a muzzleloader season, but I fully believe it should be legal to kill a deer with a bow during a muzzleloader season.

      No crossbows in archery season
      AR statewide

Anyone who puts up a deer proof fence must have an annual deer survey performed so that restitution can be paid to the state each year for the captured game.

Ban he baiting of deer (to be more in line with most other states)

Elimante the sam Houston WMA. The sam Houston national forest should be the same as other national forest. That land is federal and people shouldn’t have to pay for a very expnesive APH permit to hunt it.

I’d like to see landowners encouraged through tax incentives to open their land to public hunting

Introduce her during the general season.

          No crossbows during archery season.

            Heck, atlatls aren’t legal...

lol while I agree with the sentiment, "very expensive" is ridiculous. And the only reason it is a WMA is because those fees go towards conservation on that land.

Im not opposed to WMAs...just the Sam Houston WMA. It’s a national forest should be treated the same as all other national forest. And the APH permit is over half the cost of a super combo. It is not cheap. We need to make public land easier for people to access...not more difficult. Hunting access in this state is already too difficult and costs are too high

I can use my 30-30 for duck hunting!

Yes but again, that money goes toward conservation in that WMA. Otherwise it would be just like every other National Forest in TX. And its not expensive.

I'm all for more access and public lands, but its a WMA because the state of Texas spends money on the conservation of that land. That money comes from APH fees.

Caddo and LBJ are national grasslands.... LBJ is not a WMA, but Caddo is...

What conservation does the state do on this land that the USDA and partners not do on other national forest? I am genuinely asking because I don’t know and I’m willing to learn and change my opinion.

Furthermore, why burden only hunters with this conservation cost? Why not also charge hikers, campers, mtn bikers etc? If I want to recreate in a state park I have to pay to get in. Why not equally charge everyone on these WMAs?

I dont know specifically what the state of Texas does on that WMA. I just know that because it's a WMA they are required to spend money on conservation. I could very well be wrong and they may not spend a dime there, in which case it shouldn't be a WMA and it should be treated as any other National Forest.

As for hikers/bikers, etc. They are paying through taxes to the federal govt. Hunters are burdened with the cost as they are to every other conservation cost. We are the ones who use that land for extractive resources. In which case we should help pay for those resources.

Maybe the first day of November. Ending with general season in late January. Not all counties have the rut Thansgiving week. October can be really hot as well.
Can't please everyone! Wouldn't help us down here. Our rut is basically over before bow season. With only the secondary breeding which doesn't amount to much as we all know!
