I've never had an issue getting an HD picture with my app, although it take a few hours sometimes. I do know this, my lithium AA batteries that didn't last but about a month last year are lasting much longer now for some reason. I changed out the first batch after 34 days and when I checked them with a volt meter they read the same as new ones (over 1.7volts). I just changed out the second set after 45 days and they read 1.62volts. I was going to get a external battery set up, glad I didn't now.

Time on batteries, especially with the cellular camera, it’s usually irrelevant. Most of the battery power is spent transmitting pictures, so number of pictures is key not time.
If you’re doing a stationary set up like over a feeder with your camera, an external battery is the way to go. Get yourself something big like a 42 ah 6 V battery on that sucker and it will last a long time without needing to be charged. Put a good solar panel on the battery and conceivably it’ll last forever.

It’s not that way by design, it’s just the way the iPhone version is working. The android version of the app will notify and download pics w/o having to open the app.

Ok, after further investigation I found that one of my cameras did not have the email recipient box checked for some reason. I checked that box so hopefully my emailed pictures will start working again. Otherwise I have to click on the app to know if there are new pictures. Fingers crossed that the HD request starts working again though.

There has been something going on where some users are having the email recipient(s) become unchecked. Keep an eye on it to see if it happens again. It’s been investigated to try and replicate the problem.
As for notifications, on your phone open up settings and then notifications. Scroll down to “Spartan” and turn on notifications and edit how you would like them to work. That way if the email thing goes south again you’ll know it.
