I've got a thread over on 2cool about fishing rods and this new "split grip" design and length, and 1 pc vs 2 pc... Very similar to this one...
It keeps things interesting...kinda glad I didnt buy the Okuma...gonna stay with the Concept A, 13Fishing reel. Gotta Allstar rod just waiting for it.

I'll stick with my tried and true Shimano's.
I mean they got good customer service, I'm on my 3rd brand new reel now and they keep just sending me new ones. I'm just tired of having to carry a backup reel. The 1st time I sent one back they took 3 weeks to repair it and it broke again on the 3rd retrieve after I got it back. That's when they just started sending me new ones. When my 10 year old Xceler casts reliably all day long after 3 casts with my fancy expensive reel and takes carw of business then it just seems like a waste of time to have the 13. I think the guys having good luckbwith the 13's either just don't fish much or have good luck.

        Dang, thats some bad stuff.

My oldest boy convinced to buy one, I bought 2. That was in Nov 2015, I havent had any issues with them. Mostly saltwater usage.

All the people I know that fish heavily in salt water, are having issues with their 13 Concept reels. My buddy bought a TX Edition, and it's broke down twice in three months.

The best customer service is the one I never have to use...

My point was similar in the sense that I don't want to worry about my equipment crapping out on me in the field.

yep, that one the guy had on our Chandeleur Island trip was bought brand spankin' new for the trip... didn't make the first morning before it started locking up... Dang shame too, because it is a good looking reel... though I'm not sure how much line they hold. that spool is pretty narrow and fairly large inner diameter on the shaft...

Agree 100%. I don't want to spend my limited time in the outdoors switching out to my backup equipment. When the backup is more reliable than the primary you've got a problem lol.

The Komodo, from Okuma is a solid reel. Not sure about the others as I haven't used any.
It will go toe to toe with the Tranx for half the price.
