I've killed a lot of deer from brush blinds. They work especially well for those times when you find a scrape line or an oak tree being hit hard by deer eating acorns. You can quickly set up multiple blinds and be prepared for any wind direction.

They also have the added benefit of rarely being hunted by other lease members who are careless about tipping off the smart old bucks to blind locations.

I have a few brush blinds. Hunting out of them ain't for everyone, that's for sure.

Build a pod seat for deer and hogs. Buy a 4" galvanized pipe flange and a 10" 4" nipple. Screw the nipple into the flange, drill two 1/2" holes into the side of the nipple at 90° and thread them, these bolts are used to secure and level the pod. Bolt a 12" square piece of 3/4" plywood to the flange then mount a swivel boat seat to the plywood. Top out a cedar tree in a good hunting spot and slide the pod seat down over the the top of the top cut. Use the top limbs for foot rests and trim out as needed. Trim the top cut to size if needed and tighten the bolts to level and secure the pod seat in place.

We use brush blinds and ghillie suits, they work very well.

me and dad do it all the time, much cooler when hog hunting than sitting in any type of blind, can also hear better.
