We only sold one hunt on our place this year. Hunter ended up with the biggest buck we have ever grown out there. 100% pasture born out of improved genetics. Scored 266" even. Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_3975.jpg Views:	61 Size:	200.5 KB ID:	26650917
My son shot his personal best (second deer) on November 25th this past weekend. Older 12 with short brows and relatively light mass. He made a great shot and the buck only made it about 15 yards. Will try and add video of shot soon. That just about does it for us this season. Good luck to everyone the rest of the season.

I will be in McMullen county starting Thursday for a doe and cull buck hunt at a high fence ranch- I was invited or I wouldn't probably be able to afford this even if they were in the market to sell hunts. My understanding only sell a few hunts but place is mainly for family and friends of owner.

Attaboy!!! You guys are doing it right Hunter! That is a tad bit bigger than my 2nd deer when I was his age. If you consider a tad is officially defined as more than 100" bigger...

              Thanks for the update.

Why only 2 bucks this year?

Me too! I didn't shoot anything close to this big until I was probably in my late 20s and around deer number 80 or so!

Our #s are down and we are kind of in rebuild mode. We have a good number of does and fawns this year but overall our deer population is low. We have hammered the mature bucks pretty hard the last few years and are just giving it time to build back up. I think the last buck I killed out here was Thanksgiving of 2021. We have basically paid off what it costs to start our new deer herd 8 or 9 years ago. So now we don't need to sell as many hunts to recoup our money. Only selling 2-4 hunts a year going forward. It was my "turn" to shoot a trophy this year but would rather give everything another year to see what makes a jump etc. That being said in 4-5 years we should have a ton of bucks again if our fawns from this year do well.

Always like seeing the bucks you guys kill and will miss it this season but I sure do understand the process and the end goal! Good luck on just having fun!!

Nice. Yall are doing something right. Any pics of some of the ones you are hoping makes a jump next year?

Not necessarily a jump needed but just need at least one more year on all of these. Except the big clean typical. We put him in our DMP pen. Click image for larger version

I can see why you put that 10 in the DMP pen. How many does is he with?

Sign me up for that big 8 next year

Do y'all ever tag the DMP released deer? Just curious as it would be interesting to know which bucks are from that year and that buck specifically in the pen. Seems like it would take some of the "guessing" on a deers age away as well. It would also be cool to put DMP born does back in the DMP pen if you can find and catch them.

He is actually a 14 pt! He is a main 12 with split G3 and one double brow! He has 20 does

This is another guy I forgot about. This is actually helping me catalogue what we have for next year(s).
