Do y'all ever tag the DMP released deer? Just curious as it would be interesting to know which bucks are from that year and that buck specifically in the pen. Seems like it would take some of the "guessing" on a deers age away as well. It would also be cool to put DMP born does back in the DMP pen if you can find and catch them.

We don't tag anything because we don't want deer running around on the ranch with ear tags. No tags on any deer on this ranch. Just a personal choice. From a management standpoint it would be nice but we don't like the idea of hunting an eartag color. You can usually tell when these bucks get older then 4 and then we can start hunting them.

Thats understandable and I definitely get it. You are living the dream, keep up the hard work.

Pretty quiet year. We had paid hunts for 2 young hunters and those were the only deer shot this year. The little girls buck was beautiful and score 194". The young mans deer was gnarly old buck that taped out at 187" with about 10-15" busted off.

Yes. Some year we shoot 8-10 bucks, some years we kill 2. Most years, somewhere in between. Usually 4-5 good bucks is what I would say we "Average". We start putting out trail cams around the first of July and then we see what we have on any given year. Generally by September we know what we have and can assess what our quotas are for the coming season.
