Good program. I trained some with Mike’s dad back in college at Ole Miss. They have a factory of awesome dogs coming out of that kennel. Good luck. Great looking pup. Trained my last black female on the old tried and true Gun Dog book by Richard Wolters. She was a crackerjack! Miss her...

I have a 14 yo retired yellow lab female and a 2 yr old yellow lab female. I have trained them both. To be honest im so impressed with my 2 yo. She has been retrieving doves rabbits ducks since she was 6 months old. She has a nose like I have never seen and don't have papers. You pay all that money for papers and u still don't know what your getting. Paid 200$ for my last pup on tbh...always will have yellow labs...too hot in central Texas for black ones.

Labs are the only dogs I’ve ever owned and have had several. My yellow male I have right now is 14 and he just started slowing down this past year. He doesn’t have a fancy pedegree but has drive that I’ve never seen. He’s been fun to watch and a blessing to own. I dread the day I will have to say goodbye.

Where did you end up getting the from?

Double T Brittish Kennels in Sylvia Kansas. Floyd Hanes is the owner and lead trainer. He was recommended by a friend. I now see what folks say about the English labs having an on/off button.

I am pretty sure I can get on a dove/duck lease in Von Ormy with a friend but I am concerned that we will burn it up hunting it all season, so I would like to find another location in the area to alternate with. Fingers crossed, I will find a place but it seems the guides get first priority over single hunters.

I am joining the Alamo Retriever Club for some mentoring of me and my training. I have never done much more than name, sit and down. Are you a member too?

That's what I love about mine. She can let the grandsons crawl all over her and lay calmly at my feet or instantly be charging after a bumper.
                      Now the shedding. . .

Having had 4 English labs you will need to do as some said and get as much SR,MH (hard to find) in the pedigree and then get the puppy with the most energy.English are fine dogs but can be softer as demeanor is more laid back.

i was in the alamo club, dont expect alot of help, i was a member for a year and i can tell you they will talk alot about helping but when it comes down to it you have to be part of there clicks to get any real help, the training days they have you will be lucky to rerieve 2 ducks, they train hard for the old experience dogs but dont put much in the pups unless they are there dogs, the best help i got was from jeff brown with dawgonitretrievers, i go every now and then, spend the day helping with his dogs work out and then put my do in the rotation. any time you want to get together i would be more than happy to show what ive learned, might have hook up on a duck lease in victoria next year, will let you kow

I've had 4 labs. 2 black a chocolate and a runt yellow male. The runt was trained by me and was the best of the bunch. I paid 25 dollars for him and he would out hunt the dog my buddy paid 3500 for that was finished.. it's all about spending time with them. I worked with him for 30 min every day. At 16 he was deaf and almost blind but would still sit and stay off hand signals..
