Does your buddy have the last name Lucas and the females named Avery?

A friend, who owned his daddy, also a phenomenal dog , now has a VERY expensive dog from a very solid club ,that won't retrieve a dummy, much less a duck!! You just never know
First off, I am deeply sorry for your loss. My 2 labs are my kiddos and I dread the day I have to let go of them. My opinion is to not try and compare your new dog with those that you have lost as then you aren't giving your new one the full benefit of the doubt. It's easier said than done, but its something to keep in mind.

Thought so based on those titles and descriptions. Avery is a sharp dog, seen her work many times. She was trained by my cousin Randy McBrayer with Little River Kennels.

I have a chocolate female out of his son Barracuda Brown. She's very smart and was very easy to train. This coming seasons will be her first hunting seasons and I can't wait to see how she does.

My silver replaced my black....best retriever I've ever worked. It's about the bond and the time you put in together....sending them off to school doesn't make a good dog. Getting them to respect and listen comes with time and lots of hands on.

I've had labs of every color. They all were fantastic family dogs and field dogs.

If you wanna talk to a breeder and trainer that will answer any questions, no matter how silly or small, call Diana at Millercreek Kennels. She's a dog lady for sure. She breeds based on quality animals vs color and looks. I'm on my third generation of lab from her and her family and I will absolutely never go elsewhere for a dog. Ever.

Hit me up if you want her number, she's in Sommerville and one of the nicest ladies to talk dogs with.

Check out Hanson Outdoors.com. Edd is a great duck hunting guide and he has some lab pups for sale right now. These pups have a awesome pedigree which you can see on his web site. I have a black male from one of his litters from a few yrs ago and he is awesome. Edd is a good guy to deal with. He is located in the Lake Fork area. Good luck in your search.

Are English Labs as energetic and "puppy like" as their American counterparts?

I love seeing everyone hate on the silvers. Love having my boy in the field. I trained him myself and he has so much drive it ain't even funny. A good hunting lab doesn't have to be a master champion...just my .02.

Check my avatar, he'll retrieve a brick if you shoot one out of the sky. He's chocolate and was free. Don't think color matters. He once almost drowned trying to retrieve a crab trap bouy when I threw a stick too close to it. Had to go get him in the boat, he was hell bent on bringing that thing back.

Well if I do end up getting one, I guess I should buy a used treadmill so I can continue to exercise em while I recuperate on the couch with some iced tea.

I always heard at around 2yrs old they start coming out of the puppy phase.

Most seem to from 3-5 but some high drive dogs don't slow down too much. I'm somewhat joking. He obviously tires out quicker than he used to but there's never been a day he didn't want to run and run some more. TONS of energy.
