No doubt about it! There is nothing wrong with their business model, infact it is fantastic. They are capitalizing on the revived enthusiasm for mountain hunting that the younger generations are showing. I cant fault a man for getting while the getting is good!

There are a lot more then 100 sheep tags a year so yelp I bet he isn't selling to all sheep hunters. If you have the financial ability to pursue an actual slam, then cost of any gun is nothing. In fact most shots will be well under 300, so it's not exactly competitive type shooting. If that's what someone wants to buy I find it funny that you two are getting so upset of someone saying yelp bet he sells all of his special editions at that price... lol
Neither of us are upset at all. And especially not at what someone pays for that. It's their money. I believe we were both trying to disprove your assumptions about either of us and your assumptions on what others like and buy and why. And you just proved again that you like GAP and others and I have no doubt it's because of the name. As we both already stated.

To me it looks like a Christensen arms rifle just painted in kuiu colors! all carbon fiber for weight and a trued Remington action

I'd wager that not only will they sell out of these, they'll do so very quickly *and* their value will only go up after that.

Those of us who geek out about every detail are a tiny, tiny minority. Lots more people know Kuiu, have $6000 of disposable income and don't give a **** about the difference between a Sendero from a Palma. That doesn't make them "buffoons".

When someone clearly states you don't use mainstream smiths due to budget and turn around time, you see no need for a special edition rifle. It doesn't compute. Nothing wrong with that, you don't always get what you pay for, and price doesn't always dictate performance . My comments haven't been any other way. Everyone one has a price point, some don't care who stamps their name on it, others do. Goes for everything from homes, rifles, boots, etc. thus the home builder comment. I get price point, but I also know if I truly want something then price point normally doesn't matter.

Actually like my GAP the least, but they were ones tweaking the reamer at the time so why wouldn't I. Derrick use to be a steal, not so much any more. Jon is just flat consistent w/ everything I've had of his.

Derrick is still very reasonable. If you look at the price page for his services his prices are about the same as many GS. You can still buy all your parts and send to him. He will do the work. Even though he has started his on line of Rifles which are costly. He will still build a rifle for you, when you supply the parts. His GS cost are average. He is currently building me another rifle with parts I supplied. My cost with everything, including MCM stock will easily be under $2500 should be $2,250. Horizon is still a good deal.

I second this as I just had a horizon come in and was in my budget of 2k. I believe I got well into my money's worth for what was made very pleased

I'm sure you can build this rifle for cheaper than you can buy it. But you have to source the parts, find a smith, wait for it, etc. etc. Or you can just buy it off the shelf.

No different than a high end AR. You can build a top of the line AR for much cheaper than you can buy one. But some guys don't want to deal with that.

Also some guys like the "special edition" part of it. Things that are rare, as a rule, command a higher price. Why do you think a Honus Wagner card is worth so much?
