I almost lost my brother to this scam, and it does nothing but hurt people. I know i'm a "dream stealer" i heard it all from my brother before he wised up, several thosuand poorer, but much wiser.

And there have been numerous studies that show that the products are no better than you can buy in HEB, and most are more expensive. And lastly think about it, if its so legit, why do they try to hide the fact that its Amway so much?? Its cause they have such a poor reputation.

Stay as far away from this as you can Cameron. as others have said get a second job, or cut back on expenses, but mainly get that education. There are NO shortcuts.

Have to agree with samsdad here...2050z may be the exception with what he required of his downlines but he is certainly not the norm.

      Another idea!!!!!!

I had a buddy from Ventura CA who worked for a moving company. They made their profit in moving boxes.

He started out by "Dumpster Diving" behind moving companies. He repaired and stored the boxes in his garage. He placed adds in the paper stating" I buy and sell used moving boxes. He'd offer pennies on the dollar for "used boxes" and doubled or tripled the price when he sold them. Go price moving boxes and you'll be amazed how much they cost. After people move they just want to get rid of them.

A college town seems perfect for this. He ended up brokering moves for businesses and municipalities. He hired contract labor and is living "comfortably" raising five kids.

Low overhead and all you need is a pickup.

Cameron you are in a college town. I don't know what your better subjects are but let's say you are good in Math. There are plenty of Freshman/Sophmore girls who will struggle with college algebra. You can probably get $10-$15 per hour to tutor them with their math. You start helping them, then their girlfriends pay you to help them. Next thing you know you are surrounded by college girls giving you money and taking off your clothes then is optional.

I got on the college station craigslist and there are very few people offering tutoring services. It could be a way to make a few extra dollars.

Since you are thinking about Amway then I'm sure you are open to other freelancing opportunities. Before you start, plan your goals with freelancing. For example, do you want to make enough to cover your weekend going-out costs? Once you have your goals, you’ll have a better idea of how to package yourself to buyers.

Think of what you are good at. You are on the web, does anyone need a webmaster? Check with your professors, local churches, other local charities. Maybe do one or two for free to build a portfolio then grow it from there. How about teaching archery? I know A&M has a great archery team but what about someone just wanting to learn it?

Froggy's idea about the boxes in a college town is good. Maybe offer free moving box "disposal" and then re-sell them later. You may also offer a "hire a friend for moving" service where you help people load/unload their furniture.

Wrong on both! Again it is bad people within the organization that do that. I never did it and neither did my upline. And my name is Timm. We've been friends a long time and your forgot my name.

Amway is no longer hiding. They are advertising like crazy now.

Sorry Timm, not sure why I wrote Tracey. Not sure whether thats an insult to Losthawg or you, I'll let ya'll work that out

I also remember a couple of years back you were all excited about being rich soon working for Amway. How did that work out for you? Have you actually made ANY profit after expenses? If you have you are doing better than 98% of all of the others who have been drawn into the scam. The problem is that it IS a pyramid scheme no matter whether you call it MLM or not. Those at the top make off those at the bottom. The problem is that the business model is flawed. Who wants high priced soap shipped too them when they can just go to the store?? Despite the propoganda given too you, Amway products are no better than those you buy at the store. There may be a very few that are, but for the most part, it is a money losing proposition to try to make money in Amway. The reason Amway is advertising NOW is that they are failing, and have no alternative, they have run through all the people who have not heard of the Scam and are trying to go legit. Unfortunatly the just plain sales business model won't work for them. Good luck, but I'll bet you haven't made dime one for Amway since you've been involved if you honestly look at your outlay vs. revenue.

I did make the money I needed. I was able to get my own business going because of it. I never let all the negative stuff stop me from reaching my goals. It can work if you work it. It was never a get rich quick plan for me. It was just a vehicle to get me extra money. It was not my career or my lifes goal to stay there. I know lots of successful people in Amway, but each person measures success different.

The "scam" as you call it never affected me. Our team was never like that. Again it was bad people in the organization that made it bad. The system works if you work it. Just don't get in with a bad group. I will repeat this again. It is BAD PEOPLE who make it bad.
I personally like the XS energy drinks and vitamins. I still buy them.

Now like it has been stated on here there are tons of vehicles to make money out there. Don't put down your family and friends for trying to make a better life for themselves. Find your primary motivating factor, find a vehicle that will work for you, and then go for it.

Out of all of these posts and stories there is one thing that is consistent and pretty much factual.

Amway WILL WORK for 1 out of 100 people.....Do you want to attempt to be that 1, or learn from the other 99 people. If you can be that 1, then yes you can make some $$, now are you willing to do what it takes to be that 1? That is pretty much the decision you have to decide on....

From what you posted earlier in this thread about seeing my advice, and you tossed it in the trash. It looks as if you already made your decision though to learn from the 99 other people.

10-4, I don't want people avoiding my phone calls and stuff. It's not worth it to me. I asked a few people about things and the one constant thing I heard was "Don't try to sell me that ****..." from every single one of them. Decisions made easy!
