pyramid schemes are illegal. Amway is a "multi-level" marketing. Two different things. Multi-level marketing works if you work it. You have to be a salesman and try to sell people on the idea of also selling the product to really make money. I have a friend that makes a living selling "high fashion jewelry". She does very well at it and has been for 10 years or more. It is also a multi-level marketing company. My wife tried it and didn't do well at all. She's not a seller. You either have it or you don't. I don't know what Amway requires for an initial investment, if it's not much, go for it!

tgil is right. MLM's are not illegal. I worked in the Corporate offices of one for 8.5 years. We had highly researched, globally patented products. They were high quality and I liked them. So did a lot of other people. That's why our sales were $400+million/year. Amway/Quixtar is one of the biggest MLM's in the world. Easily $2-3 billion a year. They are a totally legit company and you can make money with them, or any MLM, if you have the personality type and the drive to do it. There are many people who don't like MLM's because of the "sell your family and friends" aspect. I can totally respect that because I'm that way too.

If you do have the kind of personality to do it, there are other companies out there that might fit you better. Virtually any product there is is available through an MLM. The Direct Sales Association will have a giant list of all the companies. If you find one you like, call them and they can hook you up with a Sponsor to help you get started.

Whew! All that being said, I'd put some more effort into your arrow wrap business. You obviously have a passion for archery so you'll be more inclined to put the effort into promoting that instead of some random vitamin or household product you don't believe in. You've got $$ invested in it already and it won't take much to get you into the black if you keep pushing. Dave Ramsey has a section of his website for small businesses. There are some good low cost marketing suggestions in there. I'm know there are plenty of online resources for small businesses as well. I'd be hammering that stuff hard and I bet you find yourself with new business before you know it.

If you want to know anything else about MLM's feel free to PM or email me anytime. I'll be glad to tell you what I know and help however I can.

I am not a fan of these type ventures. With that said if you can sale ice to an eskimo than go for it. Their is no legal way to make quick easy money.

In HS I worked as a cart boy in Horseshoe Bay. Easily made 300-400 a week in tips. Check out your country clubs in the area and see what they have to offer.

Cam, for every person who makes a lot of money, 99++ don't. Any MLM organization is what you make of it. I 'doodled around' with insurance and mutual funds in MLM 20+ years ago, made a couple of dollars, learned a lot about investments, people and myself.

If you want to see if you can sell "the dream" and not soap, it may be for you. Or it may not like the 99++.

Here's an idea. I'd borrow somebody's pressure washer and go door-to-door to the businesses in town and offer to clean their sidewalks and building fronts for free, IF you can use them as a reference for you 'new' business. Figure out how long it takes you per job, multiply that by how much you want to make per hour, and then see if you can sell your services. I think you can be making $25+/hour doing it- but that's just a guess. I'll bet there's nobody in your college town offering that service. Also do houses, driveways, whatever.

Cameron- you're an enterprising young man with alot of ambition. Don't give up on your wrap business, in fact I'd focus more effort there. I know you don't want to sink any more money into it right now, but sometimes you need to spend a little to make a lot, and I think advertising gives you the best return on your money. Have you thought about placing an ad in a bowhunting magazine or something like that? The more your name gets out there, the more your business will grow.

Whatever you decide, follow your heart. If it's work you enjoy, then you'll just naturally do better at it. And most importantly, don't let anyone else tell you that you can't do something that you love to do. If we listened to everyone that told us that, we'd both still be working jobs in the city instead of living our dream out here on the ranch.

                -Cheryl

A good rule of thumb is never ever work for a company that charges you to sell their product. That includes requiring you to buy their stuff and sell it too. For every person who has made money doing it, the corporate office is built on the remains of thousands who either make nothing or actually lose money working for them.

I would speculate that you MIGHT be able to make more money asking people to pay you to KEEP your clothes on rather than taking them off.

If you sign up with Amway, just so you know...I'm not interested in the "opportunity", and I have all the soap I need already.

Has anyone had any experience with this? I am considering giving it a shot just because my options are very limited right now. I am tired of being poor so the money in my face makes me want to bite but I am not sure it is such a great idea. It's not like they can take any money from me due to the fact that I don't have any.

                            Anyone?
They don't call it Scamway for nothing Stay away unless you like spending YOUR money buying motivational tapes. That is how they work.

I sank a lot of money into arrow wraps and stickers. I should have just stuck to the wraps. The stickers got me screwed over royaly. Regretting Obama as our president already...I have 50 "Terrorists for Obama Stickers" and 60 "O - ****" stickers just sitting in my closet collecting dust right now. DUMB, DUMB, DUMB...
