That's because the term "smart" generally refers to women.

Hmmm, I had to go reread the title after I got several posts in. I first read it as "why does everyone assume I'm GAY".

Lots of guys post up their wives/girlfriends/daughters/grandaughters pics as their avatar so that's probably why. When someone new with a woman avatar comes on I usually sit back and wait for cues as to whether they are male or female before putting my foot in my mouth.

We are all gender fluid here sir.

I was an Emergency Room nurse for about 16 years until a workplace injury took me out of the profession. You wouldn't believe the number of times I as regularly addressed as "Miss", "Ms.", or even "girl". It never really bothered me as I know who and what I am. What I always thought was funny was when people would say "Oh! You're a male nurse!", and I would say "Yes, and you're a female (nurse, patient, doctor, etc.)." Oh the looks I'd get then...heh-heh!

                  Regards,

                  Dave

Since you posted, I was actually expecting you to be way prettier when I first met you. What a let down!!

I met you a few years ago at Nanza. I will vouch that you are most certainly a lady.

Let's settle this right now- looking at your pic makes me ask one question- are you married and if not, I'm available.....

I am starting to think this is one of those things where a pretty girl makes some comment regarding her looks to get all the guys to start complimenting her

Because the girl in the picture isn't usually the one that post. That person is usually the girlfriend or wife of the poster.

If I were you I would change your handle to Iamagirl. That way no one gets confused
