    Hostile work environment question

My boss is forcing me to move to Washington DC or be fired as a disciplinary action. The problem I have is that my last evaluation was Excellent and I can't figure out why he wants to send me. This is what the call the RRR in government work...Resign, Retire or Relocate. I have never been reprimanded nor written up. He just decided he wants me to go based on I am not his favorite and he likes to show off he is a boss. Do I have any legal leg to stand on to file a complaint with an agency? I am a while male 46 yrs old and he is a Hispanic male over 40.

I'd call Texas workforce and ask them.

Sorry compadre...I got no answers, but I would rather be canned than move to that hell hole.

I'm 47 & have been through a couple job/carrier changes...in the long run, it works out. Life happens, good luck.

You said government work, if so you got more than the normal options with most contracts. Took us 3 years and an act of Congress to get rid of a guy finally. All depends on the contract. One thing for sure, I would not be moving to D.C., might as well go above his head at this point. If my option is move and be fired, I'd call the bluff and simply refuse to move and see how it plays out.

This won't do you any good. Texas is a right to work state. And the employer has all the rights!

This is true. Didn't even think about it before my response.

Hostile work environment complaints are most successful when you can prove that the employer violated the "protected characteristics" of a person. Those are the ones like race, religion, age, gender, etc... . Imo, let them fire you. Collect your unemployment and find another job. I realize its so easy for me to type this but what other recourse do you have? Move to a hole like D C? Maybe he sees you as a threat or they wanted him to move to D C.

Sorry bro, take your firing and pray a better door opens.

I'd start sending out the resume now

All I can offer is that I would be evaluating my financial situation and either 1) move to DC and be actively hunting another job or 2) tell him what you think about him while handing him your notice.

Pretty sure the Texas "right to work" does not fully apply to any federal jobs either.

I would talk to his boss and see what they had to offer, may get him moved and you promoted

What is it that you actually do?? If it's a federal job I highly doubt he can fire you for not moving. There are too many details lacking to be able to give you a decent answer.

If he works for the Fed, Texas work to right means jack. Need more details, if you are a covered federal employee he cant force you to go anywhere.
