Cool video, could you hear the turkeys gobble after the first yell?

I really didn't think we had red fox in most of TX. Only red fox I have seen was in Colorado.

That is certainly a Grey Fox. A quick way to tell is the color of the end of it's tail. A Red fox will have a white tip and a Grey fox will have a black tip...among other glaring differences.

This map is not correct. They are in Texas as far west as Midland area. We have killed several in Sterling Co. the last 5 years.

You can put a game camera at your gut pile on your deer lease and will soon know if you have any foxes around. They are opportunists fo sho.

If I have seen a Red Fox den I did not know it was one. I have seen only 2 Red Fox in Kendall County back in the mid 90's. Have a friend there who has called and killed many a Red and Gray in both Kendall and Kerr County over his lifetime. When I lived in Colorado County there was a pair of Gray's that had den in a very large hollow Post Oak by a gate. I would regularly see them both sitting up on a limb about 5' off the ground. We had a funnel cloud come across the ranch one day and take out several really big old hollow Post Oak and their tree was one. Never did find where they relocated to.

Took a few pics of her den this morning. She was there but ran off. There is one main entrance and two escape holes. Two pics are just the sheep hair close to the entrance.

My cousin had this one follow her around for a couple days. This was in the Jasper area.

Not sure how ppl get them confused. Their heads are TOTALLY different... and reds typically bigger and way smarter, grays are DUMB and all over west texas.

Im from johnson county, and have only seen reds here, but plenty of grays get killed calling.

Reds seem to live around town more, saw one hit on hwy 10 in hurst a few mo ths back

One last note, coloration has nothing to do with red vs gray fox. They are sepperate species intirely.

Gray fox is Urocyon cinereoargenteus the genus Urocyon arnt "true foxes"

And red fox is Vulpes vulpes, genus Vulpes is true foxes.

People also forget there is a 3rd fox in texas the Kit fox Vulpes macrotis... that ppl think are little greys....

As for coloration... reds can be red, orange, gray, silver, black and any combo with highlights of other colors.

Wow very cool pics of the reds. The OP is a land owner from the area I am certain he knows the difference between the grays and reds. I have only seen two reds in my life and both were while fishing coincidentally. I have seen and called in several grays but those reds are elusive for me. A mount would be awesome but I am not sure I could shoot one.

If you can call right at the edge of town or by the town dump you will get them. Also dead pit at a dairy is great spot... im amazed at how few ppl have seen reds, i see several a year in cleburne city limits lol

I would have a game cam on that den.
Foxes have always fascinated me. Not very many on my property in centerville,
But have seen a bunch in the hill countryover the years. Never saw a baby
