This is what it is. I made sure to keep the tags on my garage wall so I can remember what I planted when folks ask lol.

Looks like your neighbor needs some assistance in taking down their Christmas lights.

He'll wait until the HOA sends a certified letter lol. Same for yard mowing, pressure washing, etc. They are good kids but geesh, zero pride in property appearance.

As long as the ground roots don't freeze your good, it may take a while longer for them to sprourt out in the spring. Thay had a good growing season the last couple winters, trim a 1/4 way back and youll be good to go.

All plants look like they are coming back except the hibiscus.

Now the problem is my oak tree as well as one neighbor's are still dropping leaves when everything else on our block is green. We both had trees trimmed back over the winter. Hoping that is the cause and it's going to green up but looks like it's gonna drop every dang last leaf first.

What type of oak? Live? If so, that's normal this time of year

The hibiscus is probably done. That incredibly hat freeze we had was likely too much for it. Give it another week or so but if it doesn't start coming back by April 1st it's not going to come back. And as stated what kind of oak?

Just froze the leaves, cut back to 12" wait, break soil up gently. you will start seeing sprouts coming uo in late April early May

It is a live oak. Neighbor is calling the tree guy we both used for trimming to get his opinion. Almost every house on the street has at least one or two oaks in the front and all of them are fully green now except ours. It does have tons of the green fuzzy things and some new leaves so I'm just hopeful it was the trimming that just delayed them a bit.

Red Sister is a tropical, but cut to the ground. In a few weeks it will sprout shoots at the bottom. Ours survived many a freeze. We even dug it up once and split it down the middle, and got two out of it. They are hardy!

I can assure you that the wandering Jew is not dead. You couldn't kill that stuff if you froze it and then burned th ground with diesel fuel....that stuff will come back from anything.

When you buy another hibiscus, don't buy the ones with the shiny leaves. They will not survive the winters. The varieties with dull leaves will survive our winters here in central Texas although they will die back to the ground every winter.

If you want a real show stopper to go with the cordyline, try a gold star esparanza. Covers up with yellow blooms and should look great with purple cordyline.
