    Are these gonna die?

Not too concerned about the hibiscus but my cordylines are struggling. Went from vibrant red to sagging green after the freeze. Also looks like I lost all my potato vine and wandering Jew around my oak tree plus my small crotons.

Ours did the same thing. Going to give them a few days and try cutting them back.

How did you cut them back? Just whack it off down at the ground?

With leafy perennials I just cut them off at the ground and dump some mulch on them. As long as they are rated for your zone they will come back in the Spring.

Those look good compared to my yard. Got to 22 here on the coast and my hibiscus, rubber plant, elephant ears and others froze. I cut them all back today. We'll see this spring if they made it.

Basically cut back to main stalks. Each stalk about 2-3' in length. Did not cut all the way to the ground.

I believe the dark purple plant is canna. Mine freeze to ground every year and come back.

Crotons are gone and won't come back
Jew and potato will come back in spring
As far as the cordyline goes, cut back and cover and then flip a coin. If they don't make it you can always pick up some more at lowes in the spring

I forget that it does not get so cold down towards the coast

Regular occurrence to get in 20's and not surprising to get down in teens a few times a year in NE Tx
