    My two cents.
    Over 200hp-Case
    100-200 kubota or case
    60-100-kubota or Mahindra
    20-60- Mahindra

Now with that said dealership proximity and reputation means a lot...reputation more so then proximity.

I'd call Gavin at J5 tractors and pick his brain.

I dont need the extra horsepower - a 30-40 is plenty of power for what I will use it for. I also plan on a front end loader - already have a shredder
thanks for all the advice - I will mostly be in the open so I am leaning towards a cab
I have one cab tractor and two open tractors, and for me, they both have their place.

For the described use, I vote for getting a cab. HOWEVER, you need to seriously consider the fact that a cab takes away from the "working" horse power. My recommendation is to go up a size to offset the power lost to the cab.

Im a farmer...the bee deal already mentioned is real. One of Leydas cousins that worked for us got killed by bees. BEES are the reason all ours tractors eventually became cab and air. They migrate along the main canal. My house and yard is occassionally invaded and they seem to show up for birthday parties.

I would never, ever, buy another tractor without cab and air, and I mow under limbs and through crap that would make most folks cringe. But that's what I bought it for. Once upon a time, I didn't have allergies, but now I slobber and snot if I mow without a cab. I have a 2004 fifty-seven horse Kubota and have been extremely pleased with it. I would get front wheel assist if I bought another though, as well as a front end loader. I own a backhoe, so thought I wouldn't use it much, but sometimes I'm not where the hoe is, and it would be very handy to have.

The cab and air are a cheap life insurance policy, especially if you're using it for shredding and such. Between the heat, dust, bees and everything else its defiantly worth the cost.

Of you can swing it definitely get the cab. If you mow under trees you'll learn to trim them high enough to clear the cab.

I bought an 2011 Kubota L4600 with 50 hours on it for 16k several years ago. It was cheap cuz no 4x4 and no cab. I'd love to have a bigger tractor with 4x4 and a cab. I don't think I've ever been as dirty as I am after brush hogging. I blow brown snot for days.

your last sentence more than justifies my paying up for the cab

exactly......we have a 50HP kubota with a grapple that we run mostly......and we brushhog about 40 acres........the cab would be in the way when we get in the woods cleaning shooting lanes, moving stands, etc

Have owned both and will never have one again without a cab. Front end loader knocks down anything that could break a window.
