I hear Briscoe ranches offer package hunts (Tordillo and Cochina) and I know there are some big deer taken there, just didn't know anyone with recent experience on these ranches or elsewhere.
I would look into Mexico if money matters but I'm sure there are a few S Tx ones some guys here can recommend. Tough to find in a package hunt that is reasonable but I'm sure they exist

There's no such thing as a realistic shot at a 170 on low fence in S Texas without protein most years.

I don't think he had an issue with protein. Just wants it to be native deer. I've been half arse looking for the same thing.

That's correct. Supplemental feeding program is ok, just no introduced genetics. Trying to remain as "purist" as possible for the deer herd. Thank you for all the responses so far.

I know Shiner is a large ranch, but isn't it high fence? They post some monsters every year on Los Cazadores

                  This year or next ?
Is that 170 gross or net ?

One of the biggest issues you face is of that the few ranches that meet your criteria and consistently produce deer of that caliber; most will give repeat customers first dibs on those big deer.

Mexico would be a good option too.

Doesnt the Shiner have some low fence country? It doesn't get better than the Shiner for native deer.

Several of us could help you out with pure native, non manipulated if you were willing to overlook a fence, but it seems like you know what you want.

I have heard that repeat hunters would be given priority, but just looking for ranch recommendations in general. If it were my place, I would probably have the same policy to reward those who have been my customers for years versus a newcomer. My main goal in posting the question was to hear about what was potentially available, regardless of priority or cost.

Do you have any recommendations for Mexico contacts?

Thank you for the offer. I may look at going that route depending on what other options are out there. For now, just trying to focus on low fence, non-genetic. Based on reading some older posts about the nicest leases possible, looks like a realistic opportunity for a 170+ low fence deer on a package hunt will have to be on larger acreage just based on sheer numbers of giant deer that result out of the larger overall population of bucks.

So it looks like Shiner, McLean Bowman, and Briscoe so far. Does anyone have any experience with Briscoe Tordillo or Cochina?

I don't but I bet someone on the Mexico thread could give you some options.
