When we moved something like this happened to my Browning safe. Called browning, gave them my combo and they sent me a list of about ten combinations that it could have "slipped" to. Found one that worked and it's been that way since.

here is the trick for you. on a RLR combo- run the first number dead on to set the mechanism, on the second number run it to 1/2 to 1 number past what it you should be ( ie if the 2nd number is 56, run it to almost 55) then run the third number to the R run dead on. then back to the opener #

My dad's had this problem once, had the lock mechanism replaced. I'm assuming yours is like ours. It went like turn clockwise 4 turns and stop on # 56, then counter clockwise 3 times and stop on 20, then clockwise twice and stop on 49, then go counter clockwise and you will feel it unlock.

When ours was doing this i would do the 1st two numbers like always, then on the last one i would turn it back and 4th a quarter turn or more back and forth pretty fast and it would usually work.

                Hope that makes sense

You prepare that Fetzer valve with some 3 in 1 oil and some gauze pads. I'm going to need some about 10 quarts of anti-freeze--preferably Prestone. No. Make that Quaker State.

Only problem I ever had with a mechanical combo was resolved by entering combo and on last number chingalaying the handle back and forth lightly 20-30 times and shazam she opened. Good luck. Have had nightmares with keypads but not mechanicals.

The key may allow you to change the combo too. And a smith should have a master key that will work. I once had a S&G 4 number combo pad lock that had a keyed slot for changing the combo to what I wanted.

But what ever you do, don't beat on it with a rubber hammer. It will never open then.

I'm no help with the safe except to tell you to buy a liberty fatboy. But if you're traveling through my neck of the woods, swing by and grab my 725 or a400 and borrow it if you need a good.
