A .204 should scramble em up pretty darn good.

I killed my heaviest boar with a 22 LR. 385 on scales not guesstimating. 1 shot at 40 yards. Dead. I hit behind the ear. I was aiming at the earhole.
If I chose between the 204 and the 308 I would bring the 308. You can still earhole one with it. You can still break the shoulders if you have to.

A couple years ago while I was at work my dad called my and told me he had killed a hog at his house. He doesn't live far out in the country and the lot is only about an acre. He said he grabbed the first gun he saw, which was my savage .22lr he earholed it at 65 yds dropped it right there. You should be fine.

I like a bullet with a large cross sectional density. Love hear the bullet smack and watching the hog lift up off the ground like he was flying somewhere only to loose lift and fall back to earth. I use my 338WSM with 200gr noslers and the 41 mag Ragin Bull pistol with 270gr hard cast but always drooled over one of them sweet 50 Beowulfs.
As compared to a 5.56
