Dogs usually fare better than we do with snakebites. Hope they both have a full recovery!

The cost will depend on the manufacturer. There are a few different types and the cost/quality varies with each.

If your vet is "leaning" towards a second dose, I would just tell them to give it ASAP and not think twice. Hope all goes well and the lab responds.

It is crazy to me how our cow dogs got bit almost every year and received no care, they just laid up for 2-3 days all swollen up and then were better.

And then dogs that receive so much care barely make it

That's cheap antivenom for humans is over $2000 a dose.

Glad one is ok and the other seems to be getting there. Prayers for all. I just recently got a pup, she's a hunting dog and we hunt out west. One of my fears for sure. Ironically I was at vet today for shots and my wife showed me a phamlet on a vaccine for rattlesnake bites. I blew it off thinking its probably too expensive. I may reconsider when she's older and ready to hunt.
Anyone know about this vaccine and its cost?

Costs about $30 per shot and usually 2 shots are beeded to complete the vaccine

I researched it and decided against it. I'm in the medical field and felt the lack of scientific evidence supporting the vaccine (even from manufacturer) was alarming. I believe the manufacturer of the vaccine stated "some" vets noted "some" possible benefit. I do believe the snake proofing is well worth it and will do a refresher with my labs again next year. Not a fun day for my dogs but hopefully will prevent a bite (and might warn my wife on their walks that trouble is near)....
