Watching videos on both sites, it sure seems like the Vacmaster you picked out would be a better unit to me. Glad you posted this. I indeed do like a cutter, and that 16" wide sealer allows for 2 8" bags to seal at once. We use the 8" rolls now for packing veggies (Peas, corn, okra, etc) in single servings... Looking at the individual bag prices comparing to the 50 foot rolls, the rolls are about 1/3 the cost of individual bags...
One other thing I use my current POS VacuumSealer for is packing my hunting clothes for trips and long term storage... conserves space and preserves the scent free condition they are in when I get done washing/drying them. I cut bags long enough to cut off the seal, save and reuse a couple times.

Do you say that just because of the cutter or did something else stand out?

In the videos it seemed faster than the Weston... One I watch was sealing 2 bags at once. The display seemed to be more user friendly too.
I've seen neither in person, but I like the way it operates... Heck, I like the way my crappy foodsaver works... they just don't last worth a flip anymore. I had one years ago and it lasted for a long time... contacted them to get it repaired... they all but laughed at me and "suggested" I just go buy another one using the discount coupon they were going to send me for being a loyal food saver customer...
I think I am going to order the Weston today during lunch for a couple different reason. One, I don't need/want the cutter. I'm tired of making bags, and if I ever really needed to make my own I can still do so with a sharp knife and a cutting board to cut on. Two, I got more responses here from guys with the Weston and none said it wasn't any good. Three, and I might be looking too far into this, but I feel that by not sealing both ends of the bag I will be prolonging the life of the sealing strip. Sealing each bag once vs. twice just seems like it will be better for the sealing strip in the long run. Still going to watch this discussion and stay in it and hopefully give some reviews on the Weston in the next couple weeks as we start tagging deer/pigs/turkey. Hopefully it will stand up to the test of time and last longer than my Game Savers did.
I have had the same FoodSaver for over 15 years. Never had a problem. Guess some models are better than the others...
My first one lasted 8 years and the second didn't work out of the package. I know it happens, but it was just the last straw for me. I've seen my friends have plenty problems with foodsavers over the years and I got tired of always having to wait on it to cool down. I am hoping one of these better units will cool down faster and make the whole process go much faster. If I could start packaging and not stop until i'm done, that would be awesome.

Mine isn't quite 15 years old, but I've had it a while...think I paid around $200-250 for it. Only issue I've every had is the cool down time is inconvenient.
