So, if the big 12 doesn't expand, that means U of H won't get into a power 5 conference, which means that Herman won't get a pay raise and his buyout drops significantly I believe. Soooo., I guess LSU will make a decent run at him? Or will it be Dan Mullen, Lane Kiffen, Mark Dantonio, or someone else?

Who loses in the big game matchups this week? Aren't there 3 top 10 contests??

Maybe Boren is plotting for Herman? Now he isn't interested in expansion so UH won't get in a P5. That makes a move for Herman more attractive? All this assumes that Stoops has a hotter seat than many think. I would think Big game Bob bought himself some more time with a playoff appearance last season and a recruiting class that looks top 5-10.

I doubt that Boren is thinking about that, but I could certainly be wrong. that being said, I think LSU is still a more attractive job than OU due to recruiting and visibility, and if that was Boren's motive, it would bite him in the butt.

He doesn't want UH in the Big 12 cause he doesn't want a Texas centric conference. He doesn't want the Texas schools having the ability to control the voting. He will take UH in the Big 12 if they add 4 teams with UH being one of them.

If the goal was Herman, he would just go get him. From my understanding (I need to read up on his contract) but the only thing tied to the Big 12 is a one time payment of $5M. That amount can easily be worked out. Herman is making $2.8M a year and will make $5-6M a year at his new school, so that bonus would be flush in just over 2 years.

His buyout is only $2.5M and can be reduced depending on the progress of a new indoor facility at UH.

Oh, and then there's that LSU thing...

As I said last year, firing a coach with a .770 winning percentage has the feel of being one of those "be-careful-what-you-wish-for" type things. My Ags experienced it after firing Slocum (and hiring the "hot" name at the time - Fran - away from Bama (you're welcome!)) It happened to UT when they fired Phil Fulmer (they're still trying to come out of it.) Hey Georgia fans, remember Mark Richt? How is he doing down in Miami? Michigan after Carr. Nebraska after Solich.

LSU is a marquee program, but there's no doubt that programs as big or bigger than LSU have sufferered long, unintended consequences after firing solid, consistent head coaches. Here's hoping Tiger fans soon long for the glory days of Les Miles!
