The way it was explained to me is the athletic budget is completely separate. And LSU has a top 5 athletic budget so I think money is no object.

This is not the first time I have heard that. Some people say he wants to go there to fix it and turn it around.

I would like to see Herman but I'm sure they pursue Jimbo and/or Dabo too.

A buddy told me earlier today, before les was fired, that they have some friends in LA saying that the school has been in contact with Briles all season already so he may be a route they are thinking about.

I can't see paying out millions to Miles and Cameron then bring in someone like Briles. That would send a horrible message. As an off coord. Maybe. H C.... Don't see it happening.

LSU owes Les almost 13 Million. Cameron had signed a new 3 year $1.2M in March, but he has a clause in his contract that LSU only owes him 6 months (600K) if Les is fired.

With the buyout of the other coach it's possible this change is going to cost $18-20M. I'd imagine the new coach will get 5 year, $30M contract. That almost $50M over the next 5 years. Football is a crazy business.

They wouldn't do it if they felt they would lose money you think? I am sure that program makes plenty

I suppose if they can recruit, win, and get tv expoure for the school it is worth it.

There is no question big time college football makes millions and they are trying to improve their product. I was just pointing out how much these changes do cost.

They will go after "may not get him" someone that has a chance of recruiting with and beating Saban before he retires. The boosters are tires of bama rubbing their noses in it.

The recruiting part is ok. The coaching part has been the issue.

That made for an entertaining week!

The thing that makes the most sense IMO is Briles sliding back into coaching at UH, similar to the Petrino deal. They would love to have him after losing Herman and wouldn't catch as much flack as an Auburn hiring him either.

I think they will be looking at 3+5. Any agent is going to use firing a NC, SEC Champion, winningest(?) LSU coach 4 games into the season against them. Aleva and Co. will have to hire the best whether available or not. If you thought you had a back alley handshake deal, now that LSU has no coach the agent is hearing cha-ching.
I think 7yr deal, self renewing, if you fire me pay me the balance, if I leave, Well Bye, planes, full control (for starters), etc. Thinking about the jobs that could be out there, this is not going to be easy to get the next CNS. As you know, sometimes it's even harder to keep him if the situation is not good.

Who is looking or may be?

                        LSU
                        Notre Dame
                        USC
                        BAMA(this could be the year)
                        ?

Kelly just signed a new 6 year deal in January so he's good. He will make some changes to his staff, but I doubt they fire him.
